Possibly...I am on Carbotech XP12's these days...now there is a pad that needs some heat and then comes on strong!

Also if I were flushing the system with Motul, how much would I need to buy? miata.net approximates the system to hold 1.5L, so would I need about 2L for a good flush. Also I thought DOT4 in an nb isn't ideal?

DOT4 has a higher boiling point than DOT3.
DOT5 is the race stuff and doesn't play well with DOT3 or 4 fluid.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I can give you a reason why not to go for the DOT 4 fluid, but if I were flushing the system that's what I'd use.

Dot4 is fine.

It's what the Mazda dealerships use when they get an NA/NB in for a service. (I had the same question a while back, so I called and asked)
