So, anybody got any suggestions on removing the diff from the car? NA6.
I've removed both driveshafts, tailshaft, and the two long bolts that go through the PPF. Have removed the 6 bolts/nuts holding the diff to the chassis, and it is now free of the car.
Took me a while, but I got the lower collar off the PPF. But the exploded diagram I have doesn't give me a good idea of that's left holding the diff in. It seems to be something on the top side of the PPF, but I can't work out which direction I need to be whackin'.
Once I sort that out, I then need to hope that the viscous centre I've got will fix whatever's broken in my diff. But I doubt it - from this thread it sounds like it'll be the crownwheel and pinion... Can you buy just those bits at a reasonable cost?

Yeah there not easy to get out
I did the same today
Mines all out
Just have to fight with it
Not looking forward to getting it back in there lol
The gears on mine look great like new so
I'm getting it welded tomorrow
And test it at the end of the month at lakeside

So is there a collar on the top of the PPF, similar to the bottom, or some other contraption?
I'm happy to bang away at it, but I want to make sure I'm hitting the right thing in the right direction...

there is a collar at the top of the front PPF bolt that slides down
I think you need a 14mm X 1.5 bolt about 150mm long to be able to pull it down.

Nah I meant $75, there was two auctioned off on ebay for that price. They were on there for a while and I think one sold for the reserve price

Slides down? Oh. So if I were to put the original long bolt in just a few turns, I should be able to lever it out?
There seems to be a spacer thing between the upper and lower parts of the nose of the diff, that this bolt and spacer would go through. Would it help if I could remove that?

I have broken pinion teeth on my viscous diff.
I have bought another from US but crown wheel is 2mm bigger in radius and is fouling housing.
Only other clue to it being different is half shafts have no ears.
I know 6 inch diffs aren't popular, but can anyone help.
I should be able to grind the housing but are there any other pitfalls?
