NC Manual conversion

I have an nc2 in the 6sp AT and have found an nc1 for a donor, has anyone done this? or know what needs to be done to make this work?

Assuming that I could get the parts, what would be required?

where are you located??

at a guess

Gearbox
pedal box
ECU
centre console and gear boots
manual cluster
PPF
Diff (the autos are non LSD but have the good 4.1 ratio)
MY07 NC, Mazdaspeed Body, Ohlins, Full GWR Exhaust, 17x9 RPF1's, 4.1FGR and lots lots more

If you're not already committed or have already obtained the donor car, it more than likely will be more feasible (financially) to sell your car and purchase a manual variant.

I have thought about this, however the car i have is rare in the colour and trim, and is how i like it except for the transmission, which whilst still good, i would prefer a manual.

I am really surprised that you would want to change an auto for a manual. The former car is worth more than a manual and probably will sell quicker as well.To put it another way you are taking value off the car and adding a premium to change it- that makes no sense to me at all. If you do not have the mechanical knowledge to undertake this work or the facilities then you can bet it will cost a motza. You would need to check if the authorities with allow it and what about engineer certificates? As others suggested if you want to go for a manual then sell the auto and buy one.

Yes it has been done, Chris at MX5racing did one.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

I have the nc2 with the recaros, bus wheels and those annoying beeping sensors, with the crystal white pearl paint.

mechanicals I plan to do myself its simply the wiring that bothers me.

I'd just buy a white manual and swap the trim. An original auto is worth a bit more than an original manual and probably a lot more than a converted manual. Also you need to be a total masochist to do gearbox in/out jobs voluntarily.

it really makes no sense. An NC2 with the pearl paint, recaros and auto would be a sought after vehicle- it would a real pity to change the vehicle and merely make it probably far less sellable. Folks might understand that an auto is much easier to live with and lady owners and some blokes are ready to move on from manuals. As a daily the auto is a much better proposition in busy metro. Look at Carsales and its pretty easy to see that autos are far less common and pricing is higher.

Yes, it is sort after that's exactly why he wants to keep his trim and swap the box.

As for being ready to move on, what bull. It's a personal choice, many people buy a mx5 to be involved with driving. Most people find it a lot easier to be involved with a manual.

As you guys have said, finding the samecar in a manual would be great, but do you see one? do you even see a white one for sale on carsales in a hardtop like mine? its a pretty rare color, and with the same trim is even harder to find.
