Opinions on this ""lifetime oil filter?

Seems like a great idea (and would look cool with an inner wing filter relocate kit) but no doubt there are more qualified people here who properly understand the technology and can give an opinion:

Yeah, still "to be fitted". I'm going to install it after my engine rebuild, after I change the "run-in" oil (prefer to do this on a stock oil filter just in case there's any crap flowing around after the rebuild).

It's expensive but highly regarded (as well as adding some extra bling).

This will be interesting to see.

Works Engineering have / had a disposable version (not following it as I'm not bringing it in) - similar principle, stainless mesh, magnetic prefiltering, similar claims.

I'm still using them on my Integra and was intending on cutting them up to have a look at the insides after use but...nyeah, decided I needed too much volume to make it work and it didn't offer a significant "benefit" unlike this product, where it is reusable.

People must be just looking for things to waste money on. A filter costs about $12 so that represents prob 7 or 8 years usage and absolutely no guarantee that it ( the lifetime model) works as well as the tried and proven replaceable filter. No one here would have any way to evaluate the performance of a filter- we trust proven technology which is utilised in millions of engines around the world. What a waste of ink.

Agree that for a road car it wouldn't be worth it unless you have a bling engine bay.

For us motorsport guys it will give a saving after a season...some of us do an oil change on a monthly basis.

the comment about higher oil pressure after fitting the filter in the other forum is an interesting one. i would have thought higher oil pressure means LESS flow (more restriction). comes down to where the sensor is located perhaps?

The sensor is after the filter so it means more flow.

Its always after the filter AFAIK regardless of make otherwise a blocked filter would read a very healthy engine.
