There are three kind of race/track drivers, those that can and those that can't and the very small few with real talent. There is nothing that is going to change that.
I.M.O. Just enjoy the drive, don't try to hard at Lakeside. The walls are very close, with very little run off. The place has killed, put people in hospital and totaled plenty of cars.

TT - i dont think anyone here is claiming expert status.
But opinions from regulars and new drivers can make interesting reading and may offer some points to improve on.

One thing that stuck in my mind from training session with Doug, was the Racing Line, is also the Safest Line.
Because the car will be the most stable.
Made sense to me.

^^^^
The point I was trying to make is, at Lakeside, when you run out of talent. You can do a lot of damage. Not about anyone's driving ability. :)
I.E just be really careful at Lakeside.

You're right about the 4 noisy days a year. I asked Neil Lewis, QR's media liaison whether the lakeside classic was going to have the restrictions lifted, and he said no. Then I went out there and watched the trans ams and group a&c cars. Bastard lied to me :p definitely well over the noise limit. I didn't go back on Sunday, so I missed out on seeing and hearing the McLaren can-am car that the Bowdens brought down, I've been told it was an awesome sound. The best I got to hear that day was a dodge viper mang'ing around Mt cotton hillclimb.

Wow it lives! Same car, been repainted. I raced it at Bathurst. It's an animal. Has 650hp, Hollinger 6 speed sequential ect. Originally built to GT3 specs by Geoff Morgan at a reputed cost of $700K for Nations Cup, she is quite a bit of kit. Greg Crick won the 2006 GT Championship in the car.

Off topic I know, but here is some incar:

Sounds great, you don't hear many cars on track shifting before 6000rpm. Totally different beast to every other car at Mt Cotton. Never got out of second, and the driver was pretty conservative on Sunday. I did see he got very close to the wall on the second loop on Saturday, and when I spoke to him he told me he doesn't own it and couldn't afford to replace the tyres himself, so he's a bit concerned about bending it.

Great looking car though. Hope to see him back for the Aus Hillclimb Champs in November :)

I feel his pain! I was in exactly the same situation. I did a 2.23 at Bathurst in it, but it's probably good for 8-10 seconds quicker than that, if you went balls out across the top. It is stupid fast up and down the mountain.

It really really really isn't suited to Mt Cotton!
