rota wheels

am thinking of buying a set of rb rota wheels, does anyone have experience with these wheels, are they a quality wheel, also looking at an oz racing wheel

Check out Advanti Storm and Storm 2.
Lightest wheels at the lower price bracket.

And if fluorescent wheels are JDM....

I have Advanti Storm 2 (black with polished silver edge) wheels and yes they are light and I have had no issues with them.

ROTA wheels are manufactured in the Philippines and have this reputation:

They're probably OK for DD but NOT for track work - but given the above pictures, I'm not sure I'd trust them on my car for DD.

I guess it depends how much you want to spend and how you use your car, daily driving and/or track work.

Iv seen a lot and known a lot people who have had Rota wheels and have absolutely no dramas with them im sure if you were to hit any wheel on a curb it would smash, Iv seen 6UL wheels broken like those pics but that doesn't mean they are poor quality.

OZ racing are a great wheel but very very expensive. Iv been quoted on several different vehicles over time and all came to a cost of $2400 just for the set of wheels, no tyres.

To be honest I like Rota and Im considering getting a set for myself but if you like the RB but are worried about quality look at the Enkei Compe not much dearer but better quality and very similar design.

Note: I don't have Rota wheels, but basing your purchasing decision solely on internet pictures isn't all that logical and won't necessarily reflect the strength of the wheel. Unless you were there you can never be sure of how the break occurred, and even then you'll never know the history of the wheel, how it had been treated, if it had ever been curbed or copped some other impact, and different cars and tyres will put different loads through the wheel. There's always more to the story. Spending $2k on a set of wheels doesn't mean you're guaranteed wheels won't break on you if the circumstances are right.

We've seen the same happen to 6ULs as well... The thing is, any wheel can break in a race situation.

Yes was surprised by 6ul failure, but would not turn me off from buying unless these horror stories started appearing regularly.

Sure there are lighter stronger wheels out there but the rota RB and GRID V are great looking reps.

What is the saying?

I'd say there are a few 6UL failures out there. I heard about through the Honda community and mentioned that to Suspense...only to hear the same happened to Hjt a couple of weeks later.

My guess is that 949 had a bad batch(es?) of wheels as Emilio was apparently quite prepared to work out something with Hjt.

It's the same thing though when you hear of a story through someone who heard it from someone else. No idea what happened to make the wheel fail and what the wheel had been subjected in its life. Even with Hayden's, whilst being present at the incident I understand they were a second hand set of wheels so its hard to know for sure if they'd ever suffered some sort of impact or mistreatment. Of course you take repeat occurrences for a brand as being an indicator but it shouldn't be the only consideration and the most expensive wheels shouldn't be considered fail proof without considering how they wheels are treated.

I have used and recommended Rota RB's and no-one I know has had a drama with them. This has been brought up time and time again with usually the same or similar photos and I will ask the same question I have before . Has anyone here had FIRST hand experience of Rotas failing without hitting something or being subject to abuse? If they have I would genuinely like to hear about it as I would then not recommend them.
