Marty's NA6

Postby marty085 » Tue Jul 16, 2013 7:32 pm

Okay, I wasn't gonna do one of these because I'm gonna keep this car pretty much stock.

But (for those who remember me), I'm back in the game! I sold my white NA8 earlier this year but missed it like crazy.

So I picked up a red 1992 NA6 last weekend, very happy with it so far!

Just over 200,000km but had its major 200k service done at Mania.

It has Koni adjustable shocks with lowered King springs.

Cooling Pro alloy radiator, with blue coolant (WTF! Never seen blue stuff.. Are there multiple brands of blue coolant? Do I just get it at the auto store? I've never seen it)

Autotecnica Monza Classic steering wheel (which rattles... the outer ring around the horn.. need to fix)

Original rims have barely any gutter rash.

Welcome back
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

It's a bit hard to take a photo of it.. especially in the dark lol.

So my in-laws gave me an early Chrissy present! They bought it for me a couple months ago after I sold my white one... They had no idea I'd have a red one 4 months later LOL. so funny.

Thanks guys.

For the first week I thought it needed a wheel alignment because the steering was pretty vague in the centre. Filled up petrol on Thurs night and checked the tyre pressure for the first time and it was at 34psi!! Recommended is 26 of course.. = 30% higher than recommended. Put it back to 26 and it no longer needs an alignment haha.. no vagueness in the middle. Steering as it should be, can feel the result of incremental steering wheel movements :D

So what's the plan? Stock and refurb or modify?

Stock for now mate. When my 'better half' picks herself up off the floor (she thought she was rid of mx5s), then I'll think about some subtle changes.. Probably around 12 months time. Maybe wheels first, with a bit of dish but i don't want to adversely affect the handling.

Today, gave it a good wash, wax, straightened up the front number plate holder, siliconed the horn surround on the steering wheel to stop the bloody thing from rattling and removed the old mobile aerial and the PO's e-tag holder. I hate anything that sticks to the windscreen, they look ugly.
