Hi all,
My post #2, :D and I have a couple of rookie questions re Lakeside on Monday. [so looking forward to it!]
1. How much fuel will I need for a day in a NA NA8?
2. Cold tyre pressures for KU31 195/50/15?
3. I too bought a new helmet today. It’s a red one so will that make me go faster?
Thanks for the great sharing of info on this forum and on the MX5 Club of Qld website. Makes it really easy for a newbie.

1. How much fuel will I need for a day in a NA NA8? Just come with a full tank- it is a long day and you dont want to run low- but will probably use about half a tank
2. Cold tyre pressures for KU31 195/50/15? a bit harder than normal road use - 36psi ?
3. I too bought a new helmet today. It’s a red one so will that make me go faster? Awesome- that will be fast - maybe spray it with Grey Plastidip to slow it down since it is your first time there

Does anyone know on the QR General Practice/Testing form, does my AASA licence number go on the QR Pass #, or in Competition Licence #? May as well get all the paperwork done and ready to go now.

Start at 30psi front, 29psi rear. Then go up or down depending on how skittish your car is. If too skittish, then reduce pressure, vice-versa.

You are aiming for a hot pressure around 36-38psi.

No, no, no, you need to spray some speed-stripes on the helmet using plasti-dip to go even faster!

Seriously though, familiarise yourself with the track layout before you get there and look at YouTube footage of Lakeside from drivers who have similar cars to yours to check out their lines and gear-shifts. I did this before I drove Lakeside and it was bizarre how familiar the track was on my first lap. At Morgan Park driver training last year where I didn't do this, I never felt relaxed on the track until the last sessions because I was reacting to what I saw ahead of me rather than what I knew about the track (ie. when you know a track, you know when you can keep your foot down, even if you can't immediately see what's ahead).

Usually "track noobies" are led on a familiarisation lap or two to demonstrate the preferred lines - these are great if you're following the leader closely, not so great if you're at the end of a long queue and can't see the leader's lines (becomes a bit like "Chinese whispers" then) but at least you get some track familiarisation.

zero00/MINX/whoever's-going-Monday, if there are more than 5 "track noobies", could you suggest that they break them up into smaller groups, each with their own leader to avoid this problem. This wouldn't take much more effort since it would just require an additional few cars and most of these leaders would be happy to warm up their tyres anyway.
Don't worry about dying, worry about not living!

You running Monday SP?

If so, see you there! I only have to do ONE fast lap to have run for the day - same problem that Ron had back in May, not that I need it right now!

I know what a crook back is like Roger, not fun at all. If you have done what I generally do, you can still sit in the car and drive, maybe a bit difficult for a pit stop during the day though, not that that ever worried Nelson Piquet, he was renowned for in car relief during a GP.....
