Re: Nick's Daily NA6 MX5 STANCED & LOW
Hey everyone, has not really been much activity on this thread in a while so i decided its about time to update
So, the first time i properly drove the car for a few hours, it was obviously the brakes were not going to hold up, by the end of the 6 hour drive, there was no pads left, it was time for a serious upgrade

got the Wilwood kit from 949racing, with Carbotech XP12 pads up front and braided lines, for the rear i went with 1999 NB 1.8L rear callipers, with some basic ceramic dics, braided lines and Carbotech XP8 pads.
after replacing the brakes and driving it daily, i started to notice the car was idling higher and the bov was not going off, took it to a friend of mine to identify the problem because it had me puzzled, replacing vacuum lines, i thought maybe the bov had just died, we ripped off the cooler piping to replace the bov, and thats where i noticed a pin sized hole around the flange for the bov.

So everything is running smooth, much better, within the next couple of weeks, i will be replacing the turbo with a GT3071r and tuning the car to E85.

Re: Nick's Daily NA6 MX5 STANCED & LOW
He does nice work, its a shame he doesnt share his work here more often, is he close to full time with fabrication yet?
Last we spoke in person he talked as though that was a pipe dream, but that was a long time ago. He has a successful other job too, or had, so maybe its not realistic to quit to weld fulltime.

I like where it's going man, glad to see you are enjoying yourself with the build and staying motivated!
One thing you should do though, get a matte black rattle can and spray your pinch welds under the car. Will make your car look heaps neater. Normally you don't notice them but on white na's they stand out heaps, like a wavy crinkly line under the bottom of the car/sills.
Otherwise it's going well. Kudos
