metal cross over pipe (or would the stock plastic one suffice?) Im going to make a new one it will be easier.
ecu (such as a MSPNP2) + map sensor? ms comes with sensor, you want the ait sensor though.

boost gauge? On the laptop when you tune MS

anything else?

Nuts and bolts to bolt the manifold to the turbo and then to the downpipe, some rtv, but thats it, maybe a bit if vacuum line and a litte T piece for it..

1.25 or 1.5 depending on the application, on an mx5.

Say the application is an NA6 log manifold.

Horses for courses, I'm sure Dann will put something together efficiently that will likely outperform the Greddy, but what you get for $2k is not going to compare to what others are quoting $5k (or more) for.

Generally the higher quotes account for the related upgrades that it seems this car already has like exhaust, clutch etc. as well as the big hidden cost of engineering.

As I said in the beginning though, I'd rather like to see what he comes up with before we all go judging it.

Absolutely agree, i would never go this route. Don't doubt Dann's capability, and I'm sure alot of people would find this great, but I will be doing my turbo set up with all the things, plus engineering which im sure will be extortion.

Plus whats the point of a turbo car if you don't have a f*ck off front mount or a bov that goes pppssshhh :D

In this case 1.25, if the goal was going for 300whp+ 1.5".

This car has a 2" exhaust, that is all.

Many factory turbo cars do not come with BOVs, the CA18DETs didnt, RB30ETs didnt, the monster homologation FJ20 never had one and the car from which this turbo comes from, the ET pulsar, never had one.

For interest sakes for those playing at home, a full SS piping setup with a 300whp capable front mount with everything you need, is 500 dollars for an MX5, if you supply a BOV (Im only going to order it online like you so you might as well cut out the middle man) ill fit it in any configuration for no extra cost. So add that to it.

But that Isnt the point, you can add 100 things to the 'do it right list' that simply aren't needed for a reliable bump in power of 40-50%. You could add that it needs a BOV, the car with this turbo from factory never had one. (ET pulsar)
You could say it needs an intercooler, again, nissan didnt think so for the ET pulsar.
You could say it has to have an exhaust bigger than stock, again Nissan Disagreed.
And the stock na6 clutch if in good nick will cope just fine.

Anyways, everyone hold their horses Ill put more photos up as the day goes on.

how much would this turbo system running on 6-8 psi really affect the life of the engine?

also is there any associated headaches with VVT + turbo.

cheers dan!

Just some other thoughts for people wanting to do it cheap.

RB20 turbos are ball bearing and can be had in good condition for under $100.
Stock skyline bovs (recirc) are about $30 at most.
Standard R32 or R33 GTST skyline intercoolers (good for about 160rwkw while on skylines) are usually thrown away (R34 ones cost about $100 as they are a chunk thicker and good for about 220rwkw)

A subaru Liberty RS (or Legacy RS) turbo standard water to air intercooler system are usually sold for about $50 - usually good for about 160awkw on the subbies.

Look forward to updates on this thread.
