Good Clutch for NA6?

Postby angusis2fast4u » Sat Jul 06, 2013 11:59 pm

Sorry for the second post but since it was a completely different topic i thought it i would be able to get more responses this way

So the current clutch on my 1990 Eunos Roadster is slipping although not too annoying at the moment you really feel it in 1st and 2nd gear which are the "spirited driving" gears, in my 2 day experience in it anyways ( bought it 2 days ago)

I would like something with a bit more strength than stock (although i have never dríven an mx5 on a good standard clutch [are they good enough?]). I would like it to hold up to spirited driving and a bit of track work, the car itself is pretty much bone stock although i plan to open up intake and exhaust as well as advancing the timing so it would probably make a little more power than stock if it hasn't lost many horses over the years. It is also a daily driver but i don't mind a clutch with a bit of a bite.

So what good clutches do you guys suggest?

and sorry if this has been posted a billion times before

A standard clutch is the right choice- brand Exedy- it will built to OEM standards . A clutch can last say 70-100000 klms depending on how you drive. Drive a manual the way it is intended and it lasts a long time.. Just get a clutch kit and have the flywheel refaced ie standard practise. The best clutches to live with are smooth and light. Grabby clutches and heavy ones are a bloody pain. Your current clutch is worn and ready for the bin.

Standard clutches in good condition are fine for stock-ish power levels. Personally I chucked in an Xtreme Heavy Duty which I'm quite happy with. Indistinguishable from a stock clutch in terms of drivability.
