NB Grille

Postby Goldilocks » Sat Jun 22, 2013 7:15 pm

Hey all, just bought my first mx5 NB (know nothing about them and about as much about cars in general).

I was looking to getting a lockwood woven mesh grille off mx5mania (as my current radiator is full of bugs and its about to be replaced is for another reason) and was wondering what is the difference between a nb8a and nb8b exactly?

All I know about my current baby (fell in love with it straight away and will never part with it) is that it's an nb series 3 '03.

Hello again, your questions to deny spammers are a bit tricky, and is anyone here from up north in townsville? (seen a few driving around, would love to catch up and learn more about this amazing car)

NB8a is better if u wanna turbo charge, NB8b is newer but not hard to interchange interior and exterior but i think the front end on nb8a looks better with mods.

Is there a way to tell which one is my car?

the NB8A and NB8B have a different shaped front bar, so there are different grilles to suit.

you have an NB8C, which has the same shape as NB8B.

nice colour, by the way

Cheers locutus, but there isn't a turbo in mine (I think), it should stick out if it did wouldn't it?

The series 3 is a NC, you have a series 2 or to be pedantic 2.5. Truly the best of the NB in terms of refinements, the SE I consider to be too flawed a project. The SP is prob the best all round performance package, essentially a NB8B with a tasty turbo setup.

I have the same model NB and bought the plastic mesh grill from U.S. ,cut it a bit to fit and sprayed it black. Quick cheap job and keeps the cane toads out...
If you want to ask any questions about things to change etc. welcome to PM me....

No, fog lights are standard. Just very clean. Only 26000 km on Scooby. He is very spoilt.
