Re: Those windscreen cool air scoops...?
I remember reading a thread where someone had one of these and drove through a swarm of insects...took him some time to scrape them from the inside of the windscreen, dash, girlfriends face, footwells etc.

Re: Those windscreen cool air scoops...?
so not being a smart arse here.. I don't have an mx5 so I don't know...
but how is the footwell of an MX5 any different to any other car?
doesn't it have a vent to point air down like every other car?
Does this setting not send ambient air to your feet?
or is there something that happens and involves physics and magic where it gets hot down there with the roof off?

Re: Those windscreen cool air scoops...?
Your legs are in narrow "tunnels" behind the motor and beside the gearbox
Like the salesman says.....
"Got my scoop. Works better than advertised."
"This unit makes the entire inside feel nice and cool."
"Works great! I took the miata out on the highway up to around 90 mph and the scoop did'nt even move."
"I "installed" this, I think it took me 20 seconds at the most."
"So how does it work? If you stick your hand under it, even at parking lot speeds, you can feel a strong breeze coming out of it."
"Does everything advertised. It's well over 90 mid-day today and my feet were not roasting."
"Before the scoop my dash mounted thermometer/ clock always read 10-15 deg higher than ambient. Now the scoop makes it read the same. A big improvement."
"It's gotta be the best Miata accessory ever made! "
"Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best."
"It works Great. Actually, it is incredibly amazing.
The air flow to the driver and passenger is Fantastic !!"
"It took me longer to read the instructions than it did to install it. It work as advertised, AAA+++. "

There's been at least three for sale on the forum over the years:

From memory, Jimmy's was still for sale a couple of years ago.

Re: Those windscreen cool air scoops...?
I don't have AC so I've got one of these and those front quarter vents.
My understanding is that the scoop brings in fresh cool air into the cabin. Because if you use the fan (no AC) the air coming out will be warm.
Most reviews seem to be good, will post my feedback when my car is running.

Re: Those windscreen cool air scoops...?
Well, to finish up - bought a 2nd hand one from a member and tried it out. Very pleasant
Everything they say it is. Yet to try at speed, as a packet of the Velcro type fasteners (but not Velcro) is on the way from U.S. for $2 and should arrive shortly to replace missing ones. After sales service is great.
