NA8 Mirror Help

Postby emily_mx5 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 6:16 pm

Hi guys, i'm really sorry to post such a noob thread, but I'm really struggling here.

I bought a "project" NA8 a few weeks ago, nearly every single part of the car was taken off an dismantled (I have no idea why  )
Then it was all just shoved into boxes.

Drivers side:
I am trying to put the mirrors back together, and I can't figure out how to compress the internal spring so the little teeth on the washer can lock into place on the mirror stalk.
How do i get the spring locked down?

Passenger side:
This side is complete, however I can't seem to rotate the mirror on the base, as i need to expose the holes so i can screw it into the door.
How do I rotate it?

I have searched and cant find what I need, can anyone help? :(

Can't help with the spring thingy but IIRC I put the base of mine in to a vice with some cloth to protect it to turn the mirror on the base to get to the screws. Was surprised how hard to turn when not clamped down!

Just found this little snippet of info on Miata.Net as well that might help:

"Grab the mirror body and pull up slightly and turn. Once you do that you will expose the mounting hardware."
