Does anyone know how to adjust the sensitivity of the optional hi spec alarm on the NB MX5s?
I've found that heavy rain triggers the proximity sensors (which i presume are in the doors). I'm also a little confused as to how these work as it doesn't always seem to chirp consistently.
Manual says sensitivity can be adjusted but doesn't say how. Anyone know? Or will it have to go to a dealer.

Re: Adjust sensitivity of 'Hi spec' alarm
the movement sensor is mounted up under the dash near the steering column. it is a square plastic black box roughly the size of a box of mints with a small 3 or 4 wire plug leading into it. there are two separate knobs to adjust sensitivity, but after setting both to minimum mine still went off all the time for no apparent reason so i removed the sensor completely.
i've never seen the manual for the alarm - are there any settings for adjusting chirps/flashes?

Mine was installed under the centre console.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Locutus - Nothing under my dash which matches that description. I do have the manual and chirps and flashes can be adjusted - let me if you need and I can post up how to adjust it.
Okibi - can you be a bit more specific? As in where the stereo is? I don't recall any box there either when I pulled out the trim to get to the stereo.
Where else is it normally installed?

Mine was under the ash tray in the console between the 2 seats.

Re: Adjust sensitivity of 'Hi spec' alarm
Hi ntranced,
Would you be able to post up a link to the manual or perhaps scan something and upload it? I'm having odd problems with my hi-spec alarm.
It sometimes activates about 10 seconds after I begin driving and I have to turn the key off and back on.
Cheers
Kevin
