Told a mate at work today about your 20B build idea, showed him pics of the NC as it sits from Google Image search, pointed out the wing & front brakes, he was absolutely amazed (actually, he looked a little scared after seeing the 20B Turbo video I posted)!

Conversation turned to which madman would be doing this, so I mentioned Plus and ADE, and he said he thought he'd been there to get some upgrades done to his trailer, then he mentioned the Mazda collection he saw - bingo! Yep, that's Danny! Small world!

My apologies Peter, but I can't think of who it may be. Please PM me who it is.

Stripping of the engine took this direction....

So you are making a custom inlet manifold?

Can the RX-8 gearbox, diff and custom driveshaft be reused?

Such a cool video
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

What progress are you hoping to achieve this weekend Danny? Usually saturdays are the day but with EOFY here you may be too busy with paperwork :frown:

I just checked out the competition down at Mayne Paint & Panel. A red NC racecar with white roll cage full of hinge joints. Very similar wing to yours.

Not expecting to make any progress this weekend Mark as I've got a pretty solid day ahead of me tomorrow. I'm really waiting on a couple of parts to arrive before getting stuck into it. I'm hoping to have them for next weekend.

I must of just missed you this morning as I was there picking up Clive's Hilux. :o

Yes that is CAR53 having a bit of detailing work done. 8)

The only recent progress is that the engine core has been stripped down for inspection.

The engine upgrade is underway! :P

Of course the first thing to do was to extract the 'old' donk from the chassis. :D

Up, up and away!

...and gone!

Image

Due to the extra length of the 20B engine, the engine bay member that supports the battery, airbox and power steering reservoir was removed.

Image

The engine core was reassembled so that the position of the engine could be determined.

Lowering the dummy block into the engine bay.

First interference is with the RH factory steering rack mount. So it received a trim.

Image

Most of the engine is still behind the centreline of the front axle. :D

Image

I'm rather chuffed to finally get some progress on the ol' girl. 8)

Danny
