Caff, your car is just sulking because you left it at home. It might be fine again after a few runs.

I really recommended the HC20 for NAs because its small size makes such a big difference to what you can fit in an NA boot. I think the battery space in an NB is much less intrusive, isn't it? In any case the Fullriver HC20 is fine for a daily driver or if you use a trickle charger to keep it topped up. There's not really much in reserve though and mine is noticeably slower cranking with the HC20 if I leave the car for more than a couple of weeks.

I have emailed Batteries World to ask about the suitability of this battery and they have just replied that this model is their recommendation for MX5

The car is running great, the battery works extremely well ~6 months after install.

Do you mean the battery or Manga Blue's post?

If you mean the battery, that's the one Battery World seem to recommend, but this recent thread has a number of other recommendations, which personally I'd be exploring if in your position. Even if your local area is limited to BW, you could get another one from elsewhere shipped cheaply.

Battery World emailed to say that while the Federal is their recommendation, the Full River H20 "will do the job"
It's smaller,lighter and $100 less. :wink:

I've replied asking about it's expected life and warranty details from BW

Rang the Fullriver distributor in Bris. and they charge $140.91 plus GST against $135.20 from BW

They say "it has a good record and a whole 1 yr warranty :lol:

with many lasting 6 years"

The answer for any reputable brand battery should be:

1. If your car is dríven a reasonable distance daily or kept charged with a trickle charger when not in use and your charging system is kept in excellent condition and the battery is firmly mounted and suitable for your car then you can expect a battery life of up to 10 years.

2. If your car is dríven only occasionally without use of a trickle charger between runs or your charging system is in poor condition or you have significant current leakage (dark current) or the battery or its connectors are loose so that you do not or cannot maintain charge above 12.5V then battery life may be as little as 6 months, even if the battery was suitable for your car.

Fullriver answer to enquiry re. using their HC20 in an NB
"The HC20 is a smaller type auxilary battery with a CCA rating of 230 amps. It is also a sealed battery.

If you are looking to replace an aux battery with a similar rating, then yes it's fine.

Howver, if you are replacing the main cranking battery, then I think the Maiata requires a battery of like 400 CCA's,..in which case it would not be okay."

Now we know that some members are using this model ok ,and I don't wish to start controversy, but I'm feeling I should look for a stronger battery with more in reserve for my NB as a replacement. The $139.50 delivered from probatteries.com.au was
tempting though...... :lol:
