Engine oil, Transmission Oil & Diff oil

Postby cwto24 » Thu May 30, 2013 7:57 pm

Hi guys,

So its time to do a bit of servicing before i track my NC :D. Unfortunately, i have no idea how to, so i recruited my friend who does. Thing is too, when i bought the car, it did have the drivers manual.

Need some suggestions on Engine oil, transmission oil and diff oil.

Engine oil i was looking at either 5w40 or 0w40... but looking for a recommendation on a product

Transmission. Have no idea what i should be looking for. All i know is that the capacity for the Transmission oil is 2.1L?

Diff oil capacity is 0.13L? and like transmission, i dont have a clue either :(

Any recommendations for products of the 3 different oils?

Thanks
Trev

Owners handbook normally specifies type & grade of transmission & diff oil, ie GL4 or GL5 & 75W-90 etc. Re brands, any good quality modern oils should do.

Engine is around 4.5 litres with filter change. 5W-30 or 5W40. I'm not game enough to go to a 0W oil. I use whatever full synthetic is on special at SuperCheap. Shell, Pennrite 10/10ths or their racing oil, etc. I tend to use the 5W40 in summer. All around the $70-80 for 5 litres when not on special.

Gearbox - 2.1 ltr GL-4 75W 90 - Full synthetic Nulon

Diff - 0.7 ltr GL-5 90 - Penrite (can't get a full synthetic Diff oil)
