BIG thanks to Andy @ Adaptronic
I contacted Adaptronic through their website because my car turned from a joy to drive to an evil bitch which stalled nearly every time on a hill (even 3,000 rpm and riding clutch) and was so jerky at low speeds I had to drive through car parks at 40km p/h also read the end of my thread a few months ago

To tune my car after my cams & porting, David from MX5 MANIA sold and tune an adapronic which never ran properly from the word start, It pinged it's head off, David reason for not fixing was most cars ping even his BMW X5 pinged (hhmmmm did he tune his car), engine hunted 500 rpm he said it was the cams (refer thread of how mild), the jerking made it almost undrivable and nearly has now destroyed my diff and t/shaft with play his agrument was he doesn't even drive his stock NA that slow (thats because he has an auto X5). I was so embarassed I couldn't take it back as I felt it was me being a retard
Andy from Adaptronic absolutely turned my car back to a joy to drive again and his compassion to my situation and attention to detail was amazing. He also stopped the ping in 10 seconds of him in pass seat.
He knows his stuff, he owns an NA8 and other mazda's.

I'm interested to see what okibi says about this (or hopefully dosent say).
I know their sponsors but I think this went through all the proper channels first, didn't name them before a resolution was attempted etc.
I think this should stay, just like it would with any other supplier the community has had a nasty experience with.

If I read this correctly, you weren't happy with the service you received but you were too embarrassed to take the car back and get it fixed.
While your experience is disappointing, IMO if you didn't take it back and try to resolve the situation you should possibly be somewhat circumspect about what you post on a public forum.

Being a forum sponsor doesn't give you the right to have negative opinions removed from the forum. Specially if there is truth to the whole situation. But who knows? I seen stuff editted and deleted on this forum before because it it rule breaking, only to have a moderator post the same thing and it be okay.
mexiegirl - glad to hear your problem is solved. Will be a much better drive now for you. And should have much better power than before when you were dissapointed with the minimal power gains from all earlier mods done.

Looks like you didn't read this correctly. I read it as he/she had returned at least on one occassion to try and solve the problem, only to be told said problem is normal. Then I could be reading it incorrectly also. 1st of all I had no trust in them anymore so I went to the supplier and look at the outcome CAR FIXED

The rear wheel horspower from happy dyno was 113 KW not too bad. Now I can get competitive with the boys on the track and the road

Refer my last quote to you, and yeah i'm all she but my car is too, the Mexigirl comes from me the driver being the girl with a Mexie.

There is a point that every one has missed though, and thats my big positive and plug for Andy from Adaptronic who is a legend and does have a good product. Also the guy on here that has also had a bad adaptronic experience from MANIA too he was more searching for help than having a bitch sesion like me.

Hi guys, thanks Angela for the plug.
Just for the benefit of the audience - the jerkiness WAS due to the cams. The torque rose very quickly from 1000 to 2000 RPM (not that I had a dyno, but I can see the rapid change in the fuel map) and this generated the oscillation / jerkiness in this RPM range.
The way I compensated for this was with ignition timing to basically counteract the effect of the cams in this RPM range. I haven't heard of any other tuners doing this before; maybe it's a common technique that they just don't talk about, but I just came up with the idea on the spot, tried it and it worked really well.
I'll be putting up a video in my tech video section on http://youtube.com/AdaptronicECU when I edit it properly - but I just wanted to say I don't think that most tuners I talk to would have come up with this technique. Maybe I'm wrong...
I can't comment on any interactions between Angela and MX5 Mania - obviously Mania are a good customer of ours; they buy a lot of ECUs, we sponsor some of their racing, and they sponsor my MX5 race car as well but as I said I can't comment on any private dealings.

In november 2008 with my previous car in, suzuki swift turbo, I drove from Bendigo to Sydney on the stock ecu. When i arrived I changed over to the adaptronic via a plugnplay loom and Andy had personally tuned mine too. Took a few competent hours and had done and tuned all that i asked for: Insanely smooth performance, improving my fuel economy incredibly for loads under 4000rpm. He'd also eeked out an extra 16kw from my 1.3 engine totalling 136Kw at the wheels. *fapfap*
When my Roadster is ready, i will be driving back there for his magical and comprehensive work again.
He has made the product, I think it just makes sense to to have it tuned by him. Top bloke too, and he had his red NA there when i dropped in at the time.
