Hey, so im slowly collecting all the parts so i can turbo and track my mx5, just wondering if i need to spend the money on oil pressure and water temp gauges or are the oem gauges in the dash good enough what are your thoughts
Planning to buy some prosports gauges from the US as theyre affordable and good quality apparently

Re: Oil, water gauges
Oil pressure i would say yes. You can look at some brands that make dual gauges. Innovate have a oil remp/pressure in one gauge as well as a Vacuum / Boost & Shift Light and Water Temperature & Battery Voltage. The gauges can be customised as well as logged.
Another solution is PXL that uses modules which connect into a multi-gauge as well as a multi-gauge for ODBII data.
Do you want to datalog the data as well?

Those look cool but if you are doing track work then I'd suggest to get gauges with loud warning functions as you never have time to look at any of them, they really need to grab your attention.

Re: Oil, water gauges
I like lights!
These are just LEDs operated by outputs from the ECU. There is a pair for water temp under/over, oil temp/boost under/over, water pressure under 5psi(just on a switch) and the big strip is the holy sh#t light i.e. oil pressure low. I consider gauges to just be a secondary warning as I rarely look at them when driving. The bright lights generally get my attention.
Cheers,
Tim

Whoah - "The Vegas cluster"!
Certainly NOT going to miss any warnings there.
