choice of clutch - 1.6 or 1.8
I run a stock clutch on a lightened flywheel (6.6 kg) and am happy with that. Going to 120 kw soon and in a quandry! I also have a 1.8 stock setup with ribs removed from the back so it weighs the same as a stock 1.6. Do I stick with the 1.6 and get a heavy duty exedy or will the 1.8 be strong enough?

Just about anything will do, you will not make a lot of torque, however Id do an extreme HD for the feel and insurance.

exedy clutches have a pretty dubious past. i have heard loads and loads of cases of exedy clutches totally failing and just being generally crap.

Aaghh! I was resigned to a 1.6 Exedy HD clutch but after that last comment I think I will just settle for the 1.8 stocky - as Dann says I dont have that much torque to worry about and I dont do wheelies. At least they are reliable.

i had a 1.8 exedy HD on my rotrex nb and it was just fine for a few years.
i upgraded for no particular reason.
it was fine on the track and drag strip and i had more power than you.

Another thought - I used a Gripforce F1 heavy duty 1600 clutch (from USA) on a standard 1600 flywheel http://gripforce.com/brands/F1-Racing.html in my turbo NA6 and then in Fanta behind the turbo and n/a motors and had a good run, including lots of hillclimb launches with slicks.
At the time it was the best value heavy duty clutch available - that was some years ago. It was a full face clutch plate, not a button style, so that it was easy to use for every day purposes.
I use a stock 1800 clutch and flywheel in Britney on the 1600, and whilst low horsepower, it gets hard launches at hillclimbs with no trouble.
A friend had clutch slip in a SP and used a Mazda turbo 323 4wd clutch set-up. I thnk it needed some adapting.
