Seat Bolster thingamajig

Anyone trialled these yet? They seem like a good idea but wondering how effective they really are.

Question is how much shipped...may end up more cost effective to just sell your seats and buy a bucket seat.

$50 each + shipping from mx5partsUK http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/seat-side-bracket-with-light-p-2569.html

I think you are referring to a 'racing' seat.

I'm happy with my OEM bucket seats and have them retrimmed in leather so swapping out is not an option.

All this recent talk of a dodgy day has got me  thinking  .

It should be a simple job to cut a couple of pieces of MDF to the right size and shap, attach a metal bracket as shown in the linked photos and attach to seats. If works, you then have the choice of buying the IL Motorsports version or tidy yours up with some vinyl or black paint.

Made mine out of the black closed cell foam used for gym floors. Cut your own version of the shapes. Use one or more thicknesses. Go on the inside and/or the outside of the seat, on the base only, or add bolsters on the backrest too. The ones on the door side do tend to fall out when you open the door though.

I've been giving this some thought lately too. I was thinking of cutting some perspex to shape and putting it up inside the bolster.
