Thanks to the MX-5 Club of Queensland for putting on a fantastic afternoon of racing. As Roger has already said, 9 sessions in an afternoon is the sign of a well oiled machine! :D

I couldn't have been happier with how my supercharged NC performed on the day...I was certainly surprised with the times it posted.

Here's a couple of vids....

Quickest lap on the sprint circuit...

and the last session on the clubman circuit.

Cheers,
Danny

Cal wrote:Lovely weather and great company. Dad set PB's on both circuits, which was great to see.

Highlight of the day though was the goose who thought it appropriate to berate my 70 year old father for holding him up and then going 2 seconds a lap slower in the next session. Redbull called, they'd like you to test for F1 next year!

Thanks heaps to John and Mark for organising. I think Gary got 10 runs in the end. Epic for a 1/2 day.

See you guys at Lakeside.

I hope at 70yo I'm as fit as your dad and can still get 'with it' like he does!! He's no slouch on the black stuff!

Great day! On my first day back at QR with the wick turned up a little I found that it is much harder on brakes than than LS now I actually have to brake heavily for turn one! Props to the QFM A1RM pads though, they still pulled me up with smoke pouring off them!Happy with a PB on both tracks even if I only got one run on the sprint, I haven't had a look yet but I'm pretty sure one of the pads had worn to the backing plate, pretty amazing considering I checked when rotating the tyres the other day and they all had in excess of 5-6mm on them

Once again thanks to the organizers for a great day!

Cheers,

Tim

+1

...also, thanks go to you Jamie for pushing me and showing me that going in later into the corners is quicker... still got a lot to learn and hoping the new seat/harness will allow me to better read the car and get closer to limits without a spin.

Yes people that was me, It was wrong to get pissed off, and lose my rag. I'm sure we all Know what it's like to get stuck behind a car with a s#it load of straight line speed. For that I'm very sorry and should know better, it was wrong.

I pm cal, told him why I was upset, even stated that I was happy to say sorry to his old man, gave him my phone number to call etc.

Seems you like to type not talk.

So on the red bull thing, yep I'm happy to say I have to pay for my rides....

Seems to be you are the champ? Or so it says in your sig at the bottom correct. Tell you what, if I'm goose, who can't drive, my car QR National, Clubman or sprint, I'll put up $1000, I'd be within 1 second off your time. Shake hands at the end.

No more been a Whinny bottom name caller on line, it's un cool. What do you say?

Cheers Nigel.

Nope he has to drive my car  I just get a bit sick of people banging away behind key boards. People seem to forget, there are real people on the other side of the key board, any way. It's only 1k easy come easy go.

Put up one lap from third session, 1:12.0 lap. Unfortunately I didn't turn my gopro off between sessions, so it died at the start of the fourth session :( Missed all my quicker laps. Still, for my first ever track day, I reckon 1:11.6 wasn't bad. Other than turning in too early at T2 and T4 on this clip, any suggestions on gears? I do know I shouldn't be using third through T2, but the dipper I'm not sure on. I've been told 3rd for the whole dipper, but it seems like it's faster exiting if you take it in second, as long as you can get the shift to third done before the flick into the left hander. My fastest lap was using 4th through T2, and remaining in 3rd for T4 and the final turn onto the straight. I don't seem to be able to maintain enough speed to keep it in third through the final turn without losing too many RPM, so not sure on that one either.
