I've done a little searching but google doesn't seem to understand what I mean and nothing turned up on cartalk. Is it possible to remove the factory folding hard top from an nc2 and install an nc1 vinyl soft top or removable hard top?
The reason I ask (aside from curiosity) is that I've seen a lot of cheap nc's for sale with the folding hard tops. I for one absolutely hate the folding hard tops as they are a horrible shape, look awkward and remind me of all the bastardised convertible's that used to be solid roof cars. Wondering if it would be doable to swap the gross mechanical one out in place of a simpler soft top.
So far google seems to only want to show me instructions on how to raise and lower the oem roof lol.

Buy a good NC1 instead? Surely the differences between NC1 and NC2 are not huge?

Here's a detachable hardtop on an NC1 in Victoria that was for sale back in Jan: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=56359

Short answer is no to both I'm afraid.

The two chassis are different as I'm lead to believe. I think the PRHT model has a more recessed cavity to house the bigger roof.
You will also notice that the boot lid is a different shape and there is also the absence of the extra panel where the Frankenstein bolts mount for the removable hard top.
Look at them both side by side, there are some pretty distinct differences.

Cosmetic differences are obvious.
Engine wise i know the crankshaft in the NC2 is better. Not sure how but words from a fellow supercharged nc1 driver

Yeah, and Coke is better than Pepsi.
