Cheers, at this stage i cant see the nb becoming anywhere near as stupid as the wagon but time will tell.
Its almost too nice to mess with.

Small Updates

Postby narita » Sat Mar 16, 2013 2:16 pm

Delayed update time,

cleaned my roof , it was getting very dull and dirty.

Image

the amusing thing was when my mate and i went into autobarn we were greeted by 2 options of 303.

Image

Decided to clean out my Drains. To my surprise it was fairly clean.

Image

Ordered a tow strap because "HOOKS ARE FOR HONDAS".

Image

Wasnt the most enjoyable job but luckily i had a 14mm spanner and a make shift breaker bar.

in the process of getting all my service parts together atm so i can give her what she wants.

Welcome to the obsession, looking forward to seeing the updates.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Tip for next time with the tow hooks, if you remove the front lower half of the splash guards in the wheel well it makes the job 10x easier.

Yes i did do it that way, though that final bolt was half hidden and was a bitch.

Had a busy weekend.

spent last week stockpiling parts.

Image

Had some last minute parts express posted, mx5mania's service is spot on.

also id like to note that the subaru upper engine cleaner made a HUGE improvement to my car.

For oils i went with redline mt90 for the gearbox, redline 75-90 for the diff & amsoil 10w40 for the engine.

so come saturday night we got the little miata in my mates factory.

Image

changed filters, oils & plugs.

Also grinded off the bent bar on my rear ladder brace.

this led to a big change in handling, the way i see it that brace is effective with stock suspension but with coilovers it caused many a snap oversteer.

finished up at 2am which wasnt too bad.

woke up on sunday and went off to do the radiator, radiator & heater hoses, thermostat & fuel filter.

i was quite impressed that i could fit in the engine bay.

Image

The dreaded heater hoses were no problem except the OEM clips.

Image

the trick is to slice it length ways with a stanley knife.

i used distilled water & tecaloy xtra cool with a 70/30 mix.

Image

all done.

overall it was an expensive service but being im not fully aware of all the cars service history an important one.

car now drives alot better and i can ease my paranoia for a short while.

So after a very patient wait some parts arrived from rev9.

Image

The problem is I ordered jetstream carpet NOT the fibreglass cover.

I have emailed max & hopefully their response will redeem their reputation.

I have planned to pick up quite a few items on my list through rev9 so we will have to wait and see.

Ha, I had the exact opposite happen, ordered the fibreglass cover and got the carpet.

TBH though, don't bother with the JS carpet, the edges on mine around the fuel release are fraying, the carpet doesn't match and the velcro tabs on the back don't stay on. If you really want the carpet, make your own, It will cost you $20 including the overlocking on the edges and velcro that won't peel off

Interested in the fibreglass cover if you don't want it?

Wait, what exactly is the jet stream carpet?

I bought my garage vary & jet stream parts through Jesse Streeter and saved a couple hundred compare to Rev9; if you ever need parts sourced from Japan I recommend going through him if you're cheap like me.
