What 14 inch tyre do you run?
Hi guys,
I am considering on buying enkei rpf1 in 14 inch. The only thing holding me back are the tyres.
So I'm just curious on what tyres you guys run?
I'm looking for something that would be able to handle a few(4-6) track days a year.
Cheers
Tony

Re001 from your local Bridgestone dealer. Should be under $100 ea.

I was considering them, but I'd see if there was something more performance based.

I ran re001's as my road tyre on my 14" rpf1's. Plenty of people running Dunlop star specs though if you're looking for something more performance based.

Star Specs seem to be the way to go if you're after a serious street+track tyre.
14" RPF1s are super sexy. Would be my dream wheel if they didn't have clearance issues with bigger brakes.

How big are the brakes you're running Paul?

I still have standard NA6 brakes, but I would like to have the option down the track of upgrading to NB8B brakes. My understanding is that even the 15" RPF1s won't clear them.

Any clue where to get some Star Specs from?

Stuckey Tyres in Melbourne are the supplier of Star Specs. The old Z1 has now been replaced with the Z2 which is supposed to be quicker. I found the Z1s were an awesome tyre, about a second a lap quicker at Wakefield Park than RE001s ... but about double the price. Seriously, if you're just getting started in track days, just go with RE001s and your wallet will suffer less when (not if) you flat spot them!

Thats a fair call, is there much difference between the re001 and re002?

Re: What 14 inch tyre do you run?
Sorry for a big bump, but what about those of you looking for a wider tyre; something of the 195/60/14 variety?
It seems Dunlop no longer does 195/60/14 in their starspec, which leaves nothing in the market for this size for a performance tyre, as far as i can see.

The current NA lap record for modified cars at Wakefield Park is held by a car running Star Specs on 14x7 RPF1 Enkeis. That's in competition against a swarm of cars running R-specs.
