EOI: Mt Mee, Bellthorpe Range & Peachester Rd Drive
Following zero00's advice I went for a run today through to Beerwah going via Dayboro, Mt Mee, up and down the Bellthorpe range and then back onto Peachester road and through to Beerwah
Just posting this as an EOI to see who may be interested. Just to note though the Bellthorpe range rd is very steep and narrow so it may not be for the faint hearted!
If enough interest is sparked I'll do an event thread for one weekend in the near future.
If you continue a little further up Maleny-Stanley River Rd you can experience this great lookout:

Nice view!
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Knew you'd love it mate!! That's where I'm taking 'Speed Freak' [Rhys] sure to get the blood pumping!! Great to catch up here at home after and meet Chantelle and watch the Lions do the Demons!!
I love that road no matter what, but for Okibi's sake we should mention there are warning signs at both the top and bottom that the road is CLOSED for a period in the morning and afternoon to allow the school bus up and down!! It's that steep and narrow!! Glad you said they have done some work on those two 'switch-backs' I'm sure going up I would lift the inside rear wheel off the ground and then feel faint looking down!!
Next time I will stop at those corners and take some pics for Okibi!! You are so high up and then in a couple of kms you're down the bottom!!
Have to go see if I can find a pic of the signage, it's on the desktop filed, I think, under 'SCARY MOMENTS I WILL NEVER FORGET!!'
The image that 'corners' has posted is the Glasshouse Mountains, the cores of ancient volcanoes about 120 million years old, supposedly the largest cluster of volcanoes anywhere in the world - just imagine how high they would have been! The area around is obviously very fertile and supports pineapple plantations, strawberries, tomatoes etc - roadside stalls sell direct picked that day, always nice to stock up on a cruise!!
For more information regarding the Glasshouse Mountains [between Brisbane and Sunshine Coast] simply google 'Glasshouse Mountains'
PS: Thanks for the pic of the underneath of the 86! Now I'm going to polish that as soon as I can

Definitely interested. Roger has told me about this run, but I never got around to doing it because it's about an hour and a half from my place just to get to Mt Mee. If it were a group run, and I wasn't busy, I'd make the drive to do it I think.

Good to see it has been vastly improved since the last time I drove it a few years ago.

I'm good for Saturday May 4th, Tuesday 21st, Sunday 26th, that's it for my month If those are good for everyone else then that's cool, otherwise I'll just give it a miss this time around. Looking at the new road, I'll find time to make the drive up on my own some time.

The whole of May is probably out for me, but I'm keen for next time. Looks like a stunning drive.

First time for me was a Club monthly run with the Brisbane Chapter - after that I think the Club decided it freaked too many people out and would not be used again - from talking to 'corners' after he drove it yesterday seems after the washaways from the rains 2012 it has been vastly improved .. of course that does NOT remove the inclines/declines!!
Thanks for the pics Jaron .. it would not be an 'official' Club run but if a date can be set and and not interfere with Club activities then I'm definately IN!! Almost headed to Woodford yesterday to meet up with Jaron, I should have!!
Sitting at Automotive Plus right now while the NA gets it's routine service, the NB at home DAMAGED!! Bloody letterbox!!!!

Did you forget where your letterbox was? They don't normally sneak up behind you.
