If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

The double hanger is a very good idea. My hanger just ripped out after 6 track days.

Seriously I would consider not revealing any more on this until it is finished and then patent the design. As far as I can see nobody else is doing anything like this?!

There's a couple of guys in the US that specialise in this sort of work for MX5s/Miatas.

When I started looking into the EFR6258, I realised that I'd need a custom manifold and exhaust - there were no off-the-shelf solutions and the Trackspeed Engineering kit that was supposed to be available at the end of last year is still nowhere to be seen.

"Turbo Tim" from ARTech Fabrication (see http://www.artechfabrication.com/NB--99-05-.php) in the US is a MX5 fabrication "specialist" and I was tempted to get him to do the work. Unfortunately S&H large items from the US is expensive - I learned this when I bought my FM MAZDASPEED 2.5" exhaust; S&H was almost as much as the cost of the exhaust itself so I wasn't keen on dong that again. There are also other LHD vs RHD issues that may have caused problems.

I'd been following Dann's thread here and was impressed with his progressively improving welding skills and the fact that he takes so much pride in his work and really goes out of his way to keep customers satisfied -just ask anyone he's built stuff for.

Dann jumped at the chance to install the EFR6258 and we discussed what options were available. I'd rather do things properly the first time since that's usually cheaper in the long run anyway, and much less grief, so I took him up on all of his suggestions (eg. ceramic coating the manifold). I'm very impressed so far at what he's built and daresay that it's at least comparable in quality to ARTech fabrications.

I can't wait to hear what the exhaust note sounds like.

At the risk of damaging Dann's "street/forum-cred", in person he's NOT what I expected based on the forums, he's a pretty good bloke and very easy to deal with - many businesses could learn a thing or two from him about customer satisfaction.

This unfortunately has a stock bottom end still and a 14psi actuator so it will be wastegate wired open for a little while I think :(

Coming together, got some time to do a little this morning before I had to go.

Muffler tucked RIGHT up and nicely centered. Note that this is still only tacked so the welds (mostly the heat colouration around them) look patchy, thats why.
Image

Not 110% happy with the tip so Im redoing from the muffler outlet back.
I do like how you can JUST see the muffler if you kneel, it looks very OEM.

Whats this we have here? SE owners will recognise this manifold and heatshield?

Off to the race ceramic coating shop tomorrow.
