Drag race, no I reckon a dyno shootout would be better then a track race :)

and to be a pedant (and highjack the thread even further) it should have been 'buy my partner and I a flight and both of us will be there' :)

anyway I'm happy to travel down from the Gold Coast to the NSW Central Coast for the shoot out. Maybe Kev05 could organise a MX5 QLD overnight run down that way :)

she won't cone to the dyno she will go to the aquarium or something lol. she gets enough loud cars in her life as it is.

And my dyno did the work on the nemo time attack car in 2011. Neither of which means squat in terms of the accuracy of the number coming out.

I run WHP camshafts with a sightly longer duration (at 50) and more lift. 1mm oversize valves, headwork, 4age 20v itbs on a mazdaspeed manifold with samq performance 43 mm trumpets, maxim works headers and a 2.25 inch exhaust using mx6 injectors and an adaptronic.

Now admittedly the nb had higher stock compression, so you should have a slight advance from that but my dyno sheet shows 130 hp and power starting to fall off by stock red line.

So I'm sure you can see why I am a bit skeptical of your numbers with less gear.

I was actually thinking a club day style dyno day rather than one on one, but hey I don't mind, I will show.

I'm not good with cams, but they are the 805c grind from tigh (cannot spell) in QLD. Cannot remember the specs. It is a DAILY DRIVE, so its not too wild.

Sail, did you do head work, bore or up your compression?? I understand the nb head flows a lot better than the na head. If I remember correctly, the nb8a had 9:1 comp and the nb8b/c had 10:1 comp, not sure about na8. Is your adaptronic standalone?? 130hp at the wheels seems a bit under powered for all that work. I've got 40mm high x 45mm dia trumpets, not sure how much differene it makes compared to 43mm trumpets.

The point I was trying to make with the dyno man, was that he was no backyard mechanic.

I'd be happy to meet up somewhere inbetween the Goldie and central coast, will enjoy the drive :-D

I stand corrected, thanks project. Redbook suggests 2001 onwards is 10:1 comp compared to 9.5 pre 01

could be. i'm not a 100% right expert. 10.0:1 might have come in with the VVT introduction.

Yah I looked up 805s yo compare specs. As I said bit smaller then mine.

I've also dríven a na8 with the same cams on a stock manifold, pulls well but gets thrashy up top, probably the manifold.

Did a light head shave, but only got 0.1 or 0.2 extra out of it due to the head work.

Yes stock for stock the nb heads flow better, but not so once modified.

At the power your reporting, your doing better then a fully built but road dríven cosworth bda motor with jenvy itbs on the same dyno as my tuning and better then any of the "race mx5" the tuner had also done with built bottom ends.

All this being said, my place calls their dyno accurate and a lot of others happy. Maybe theirs is sad and others are accurate? They have seen a 30 kw difference between another shops dyno and theirs on a evo (I think).
