Yes, call 1800RACERS for any information about Qld Raceways.

For all entrants, you need to be mindful of the following:

You need a roadworthy car - Check wheel nuts, brakes, tyres, oils and coolant.
Pay entry fee - At least 14 days prior to event for best price. Bank details on the club website.
Helmet - Full face AS1698 minimum.
Application for Private & General Testing - Available here.
Neck to wrist to ankle clothing - Non-flammable for your protection.
Closed in shoes - Non-flammable for your protection.
AASA Clubman Licence - Available at QR on the day. $20 day licence or $55 annual licence. Application form here.
Timing Transponder - Available from QR on the day. $20 hire or buy for $80. (If hiring, you will have to pay $80 and will get $60 refund upon return of the timer)
CTPI motorsport extension if your car is road registered in Qld - Hard copy required. See your CTP insurer. $10 or free depending on insurer
MX-5 Club Indemnity Form - Available here.

BE ON TIME – no brief, no run. Briefing is at 1230 pm.

Just realised its also the old mans birthday, whats the chances of him taking my five out for a lap or two?

Also being a half day, will there be passenger laps? New to all of this :)

Unfortunately he can't go out unless he is an actual entrant. The are time contraints and official event start and finish times are allocated

There is no guarantee of 'passenger laps' after the event, that would depend on time, whether all groups had had the same amount of runs etc

If the Organsier allows a few 'sighting laps' before the start for 'first timers' you may be permitted to take him but there is again no guarantee of that, or see the Competition Secretary on the day if he may accompany you if 'sighting laps' are being done

Correct me if I'm wrong, this will be your first 'track day' :D

Perhaps JBT will make a post to clarify the situation Nate

If sighting laps are going to happen (I'll just have to wait and see on the day :D) I'd rather someone with a bit of experience ride shotgun with me...because you're correct - first ever track day! It all does pin down to my clutch though, It wouldn't feel right taking her out onto the black in its current condition.

Still a bit to organize on my end, so we'll see how it goes :)

Nate, someone to ride with you will be no problem, just make sure at Driver's Briefing that should 'sighting laps' be available can an experienced person ride with you - certainly makes things safer and assures you of what is required - always remember one thing, as told to me, first time out drive at YOUR speed, settle into the car at a speed you feel comfortable with and get to know what it's going to do at speed! Given we should be 5-6 runs barring no 'incidents' the first run will one where you get the idea, feel free after or even before to ask others questions, rev range etc, braking points, lines thu corners etc .. it will all fit together eventually!! I'm still learning after now I think 15-16 track days!

#1 thing above all is to have fun!!

The latest view from QR with respect to liability issues is that nobody, except a professional instructor, should go with anyone for sighting runs or to give advice. To that end, cars may be lead around the track by a professional to show people the lines, but only following a compulsory track and safety briefing specifically for first timers. Welcome to the world of litigation protection.

Remember, it is QR's sandpit that we are playing in and they make the rules. Passenger rides may be a possibility if, as zero00 pointed out, everyone has had enough, we've all played nicely and nobody has done anything stoopid.

This link http://www.mx5clubqld.com.au/?page_id=33 says the briefing is at midday. I would plan on being there by 11am anyway, but which time is the right one for the briefing?

I will leave home as usual around 7.00am and battle thru the city!! That's after a 'coffee stop' and then cruise on out, love to be set up and relaxing back in the chair with time to spare!

You going to 'Macleans Bridge at Lakeside' Ross? Paid my entry today

Entry paid, just gotta fill in all the forms and hang onto a couple hundred bucks to get an AASA licence, transponder and lapceiver on the day. Already got a helmet, Gopro Hero3 and enough mounts and elbow joints to stick it on my helmet. Very much looking forward to it, but not half as much as I'm looking forward to the full day at Lakeside in 3 months time.

Sadly working that weekend, but only on late shift. Might be able to get out there and have a look in the morning, gotta bolt around midday though. Enough time to see all the cars though :)

Trackphotos you are just going to have to sell some more photos to pay for the AASA and transponder.

You fellas are helping me out with every track day I shoot in that regard :p Kind of a shame I'm planning on actually driving at the days from now on, instead of shooting.

Tried the helmet cam out to see how the field of view is, looks promising so far.

Geez, in between runs I can take some for you Ross, I got a reputation of cutting heads off, blurring the pic so they look soooo fast!

You can still walk the pits a take a few I'd say, love those you took as the cars came back to pit lane at Lakeside

BTW entry fee paid was 'Macleans Bridge', will do the other next Monday, still 3 weeks out by then

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone out of the people that are attending the QR track day is running forced induction (supercharger or turbo)?
Its a route down the track Iv considered going so it would be nice to see some FI setups, but thats of course after I purchase a MX5 :)

Looking forward to this event, I want to meet some other members and see some more MX5's.
