Stripped? you mean the phillips head "+" is rounded so you can't get a screwdriver to bite? All four screws? If so, then that is very suspicious, even if only one screw head is rounded.
Swap EMS with your other car or someone else's?
Have you tried disconnecting the battery?

The ECU Phillips head screws can strip fairly easily if moisture has been present in the vicinity (common) & the wrong size or type of screw driver is used. As SP suggests it indicates that someone has at the very least tried to get it open for some reason. As SP also suggests try to borrow a good one to temp swap over with yours, but disconnect the battery first. At least used NA6 ECUs are plentiful & not particularly expensive.

Just remembered if screw heads on both lids of ECU are not stripped then you can remove the ECU PCB to inspect both sides by removing the bottom lid, as opposed to checking via the top & bottom lids. If you can get the bottom lid off, then remove the 2 recessed screws on the side of the ECU & then the 6 PCB screws. Have accessed a stubborn NA8 ECU this way.
