Question about the little green cap
Does anyone know what the aqua green cap like plug sitting on aluminium pipe does? It's located to the rear right side of the motor and has an 'H' on it.

Lol? Not sure what you mean. Stupid question? Knocked the cap off but pin remains. Any urgency in having it repaired/replaced?

Re: Question about the little green cap
So the cap is removed?
It'll be alright, I didn't have caps on mine when I bought my old MX-5 but they stuck caps on it after I got the aircon re-gassed
It's just where they hook there hoses up to re-gas your aircon

Re: Question about the little green cap
The cap itself has snapped off but the end of it remains in the cavity. I love this forum!

Re: Question about the little green cap
ok i will elaborate for you.
The actual plastic cap is just a cap. it screws onto the piping. it is just a cover.
Underneath is a valve. If this valve is pressed very very toxic gas will be released.
Its also really bad for the environment. If you loose to much your A/C system won't work anymore.
So the cap doesn't directly do anything, it just protects the valve.
I would try to get another one, wouldn't be too expensive.

Re: Question about the little green cap
Ah yeah same situation as I was in. Cap snapped off but the thread part was still in there.
I wouldn't worry about it which I wasn't at the time
Just wait till you need your air con regassed and get them to stick new caps on if they don't

Re: Question about the little green cap
Took a trip to see Dick at mx5 factory. Cap replaced no worries plus some other helpful tips besides. Thanks for all the info. First time owner of this car as of 5 days ago, not mechanically minded.....yet! This forum has been a huge source of information so far.

Re: Question about the little green cap
One of mine snapped off leaving part of it still attached to the valve so I just glued it back on again...don't know how long that will last...
