As the little guy said there are brackets welded to the cage and the stock hard top bolts on, Streat Neat did a great job with this one so the brackets for the carbon fibre top slip over the cage and it bolts where the normal brackets would be obove the windscreen so I can run either type of hard top.

I actually hate running the hard top, it's there in case I ever go to a track like Phillip island where the hard top actually makes a big difference.

If you could, I would be really curious to see some pictures of how you've done it (my minds eye is struggling)

Engine has Supertech forged pistons, big oversize, Carillo rods, big cams, porting work on the head, somewhere around 120-130 rwkw.

Here you can see the bracket welded to the roll cage to mount stock hard top and the alloy bracket on the C/F hard top that just bolts the the stock hard top mount point above the windscreen.

Lots could have this except unlike lou 98% lack the balls to put big enough cams in.

Super well done Lou. :P

Cash may have something to do with it.

Anyway I thought you were a 'chuck in a $3k turbo' guy, not adding big cams, headwork?

Protip: Small cams and big cams cost the same amount.

I am the 3k turbo guy but if you do n/a why spend 3k and get 10hp when you can do as lou has use bigger cams and make 40hp?

I did the turbo thing, went back to NA in the NA so I could do the Prod.Sports stuff, have not regretted it one bit, you go to race meeting, never have to open the bonnet and it still goes fast, and sounds fat....doesn't matter how well the turbo car is built there are always problems.

I'm about to start a turbo build. Now you have me worried.
How bad? Is a turbo car to track? I'm aiming for 200hp low boost.

Running a MX5 anything above about 150rwkw on the track and everything gets really stressed, we have all talked about it before, starts with front hubs, gearboxes, rear CV joints, diffs, rear hubs, overheating, exhaust cracking, turbo stud breaking...all of the Turbo MX5 race cars have had these problems...so if you wants to run a good turbo car you can expect to have to deal with some of these, with my car running at about 130ish rwkw I have never had any of these things fail....I did spend quite a bit of money on the engine but I did it right in the first place and it has been great, a lot of thanks go to David and MX5mania for their help with the engine.

Not being a spanner guy (clean windscreen, check oil, no problem....) that is exactly why I also want to go the n.a. route. Sound great, hopefully simple to run...
