SE Turbo Removal

Postby and1 » Sun Apr 07, 2013 5:43 pm

Hey guys,

Couldn't find much on a search. Hoping some whom have removed the turbo previously to chime in.

I'm starting to take the head off of my SE to inspect the damage and first stop is to remove the hot side components.

I've removed downpipe, oil inlet and water lines and bolts that attach the turbo to the brace on the underside, however I can't see a way to remove the oil drain..

Is this all that is required to pull the turbo/manifold?

Thanks

Damaged your SE? :(
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Gee it's unusual that the engine would fail before the turbo!

BTW A turbo quote from Mazda $6000 (inc labour). This is why I don't have an SE or Golf GTI or 135i as much as I would like one.

Thats a BS number.

Used turbo, 200, fit it yourself, an afternoon.

Find who makes the stock turbo.
And buy it from there.

Oem parts are extra for the sticker on the package

It's an IHI turbo; RHF5 VJ35.

Sorry for the thread derailment. 8)

Mazda parts, Mazda labour, grease up and bend over.
