Re: 2B and 2F specifics
If the power to weights are public knowledge then its easy to see who is cheating when 2 cars of the same p/w race and one pulls away.

Not so if only used like a boost for small times. I know this would be outright cheating, but with such focus on you can change this, but not that, would something like this be that obvious when a field of cars have different drivers, different spec cars and likely different sections of track and traffic.
??.... I just struggle with these types of rules and think the $10k and you have to be prepared to sell it at the end rule is so much easier to avoid lavish cheating and/or budget blow out.

I mean, how thorough are the checks and assessments of the cars and engines?

Whilst I found nitrodan's suggestion plausible and not a bad solution I will not be doing that. If I do use a second tune it will be to drop the HP to very low so it can be activated when I'm not in the car
On a serious note G I do not have an answer for your question. However it would be obvious if say club times (where there are no HP issues) were compared to lap times a door to door series. I would say that an extra 40 HP should be obvious. Then again it would not be too hard to find the switch if needed. I'm also aware that club/sprints is different to door to door racing.
If challenge testing was introduced, that is if a person wants to challenge a cars output/weight their car and the challenge car is tested and if the challenge is upheld the person suffers a penalty (banned, loss of points etc) if the challenge is false the challenger pays the testing fee for both cars and probably loss of points. This is a good system as it is similar to drug/alcohol challenge testing as it discourages vindictive accusations. Just my thoughts.
My will remain road registered so no change of selling it at the end of the season.

Re: 2B and 2F specifics
Can't say I agree..... Switch could be horn button, wipers, headlight flash, a radio button, or for extra stealthy a horn+wiper.... Good luck guessing that.
Also, I doubt door to door is close enough to uninterrupted sprints with no traffic in ya way such that 1 sec less accounts for cheating. It would be very hard to spot and too easy to implement.
Also, how does most of that become street legal? ITBs can't be engineered surely!?
Just saying... :p

ITB's will be legal when the emission testing is done, which will be done on race E85 . Then I can have the ECU locked and it will comply with the relevant emissions law. I was not going to do ITB's but then I did some research on how to make them comply hence why I have them now.
Rest of the mods are all street legal, well apart from the current ride height it is probably a tad low.

Re: 2B and 2F specifics
At the end of the day any rules can be gotten around. Hopefully the series is designed in such a way as to encourage people who will mostly operate in the spirit intended. You can't be whacking every car on the dyno at every event.
Or have the more gifted driver be the focus of the protests from the sore, slower, loser.
There are always going to be the guys who kick the golf ball that bit loser to the hole unfortunately.

First up, hats off to Chris and co for this initiative. I hope that their hard work is rewarded with a successful series.

Asking for the 2F crowd:
My reading of Chris' Tech Regs (NOT the CAMS stuff), is that 2F cars are in classes based on capacity not p/w ratio.
Tech Reg 1.1.2.1
...
Classes based on 2F rules defined by engine capacity for that model as per http://www.redbook.com.au:
E-‐
Under 3 litres
Is this right? If so, does this mean that there is only a single 2F class - under 3 litres? Presumably not, so presumably it is something like u/2 litres, 2-3 litres, etc ...

it looks like you can run quads on a 2f car so long as you keep the stock Inlet manifold?

Re: 2B and 2F specifics
Ok, here's a novel idea!!!
Why don't you stop wasting your time thinking of ways to cheat, as I can assure its pretty well all been tried before.
Use that energy building your cars properly and within the rules.
Then maybe if you manage to do well it will be because you can drive and you can set up a car properly etc etc
But then if you don't manage to win everything will it be because everyone else cheats?????
Seriousely, if you want help or advise and you are fair dickem, then I'll help you with the rules and probably Matt will as well for those in Brissy.
Others will have to ask locals.
And in case nobody has actually told you yet, if you win your catagory, you WILL win a you beaut gold coloured plastic trophy.
Terry.

Actually I'm building my car and just need to see where it fits in within the rules. By my reckoning it will be a CAMS 2B (provided I can resolve the roll bar and other things) and it will be in Group A of the new series. I'm happy with that. However I would prefer to have a sheep station up for grabs than a plastic trophy

What Terry said. If anyone in Brissy or the gold/sunny coasts wants a hand regarding rules and interpretations of rules, I am more than happy to help. I have been playing in marque/prod sports since the mid 90's and have a F. Gardner type terry towelling hat to get the most out of the rules.

Re: 2B and 2F specifics
Thanks MattR. I have spoken to a gentlemen on the Gold Coast who does log book per-inspections for CAMS and he will be looking at it when I am home next. Whilst my engine is not done it will be a 2B which I'm happy with. Needs to be done anyway because I'm looking at the Victorian 6 hr in August.
Also getting the AASA log book as well covering all bases. Hopefully the per-inspection will identify any issues that I need to resolve when the engine is being swapped.

If you can modify the stock inlet manifold for 2f but the stock inlet manifold needs to be clearly identifiable you can put quads on it right?

I guess. You could also cut open the inlet manifold, modify it, weld it back together and polish it up and pass it off as a highly polished standard manifold. As has been said the spirt of the rules is what should be the driving force not finding loopholes.
I'm happy to be classed as 2B.
