I never said anything like this i said that a 200whp atmo motor is god awful expensive compared to a turbo engine at 200whp and allowing only very rare and henceforth expensive turbo models in only further drives up the price to get your foot in the door.

how is this so hard to understand.

Thats just wrong Dann, did you see what CT sold his SP race car for? try and find anything else in a production sports car that could do 1:03 at wakefield for that price... you are delusional if you think that is dear.

Not new idea - Swedish rally drivers were doing it on an episode of Top Gear. Has it been done here before?

It's a great idea, the only problem with it is people who are handy on the spaners end up the best car. Second though brilliant idea :lol:

What a great idea for a national challenge! Make the value $10k and I'd be there with a car and happy to race! I'm sure a few other would be too!

is this for MX5 Challenge or Prod Sports... for both of them its basically a case of not wanting to chase people off... It is in this case hard to tell people they cant race, particularly some of the guys in prod sports like the Mackies who have always supported the series, they might have some legality issues with their cars but you dont want to tick them off in favour of blokes who come once or twice a year and just do the 1 hours.

The same goes for the Challenge in that its not supposed to be overly serious and everyone wants as many people at the meetings to race as possible but the problem is the guys who want a level playing field get pissed off and don't come back if you let anything come along... but if you exclude the other MX5s they wont come back either...

The real problem I have with some of the other guys is how they acted with guys like Steve and Jake Shelley, when they came along there were some really good numbers turning up to MX5 challenge meetings but they were there for 1 meeting and were fairly inexperienced and its fair to say a bit over exuberant and they understood that and made the right apologies to the guys that they really punted and it obviously wasn't intended.... but after the meeting some of the other guys started to basically abuse them on their youtube videos and the like and they haven't been back since and instead bought an EVO and a Radical and do their racing elsewhere and have shown that with a bit of experience they aren't out of control... and thats 2 perfectly good 2F cars we will never see at another meeting & thats something I have real problem with.

I havnt read the 2b and 2f rules for a while so Im reading through them.

In 2b, it seems you can build custom subframes and suspension arms (including increasing the width of the car by 200mm) and fit any hubs you want to them. is this true?

As for gearbox thats basically open you can run a hollinger if you want?

And you can cut the roof off an mx5 and totally enclose the cockpit except where your head sticks out for aero?

E85 is fine also, also can someone please clarify if all internal engine mods are permitted if they arent mentioned?

Cams etc are free right?

As for the Shelleys, goodbye and hope they never come back, I was dríven off the road by the old man and certainly didn't receive any type of apology, any abuse they received I feel was totally warranted.

ENGINE
4.1
General:
Engine capacity for reciprocating engines may be varied within the limits of the recognised
or replacement block; save that the maximum permitted capacity of the engine is 6000cc. Save for the
restrictions imposed in Articles 1.4, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4, the remainder of the engine assembly and associated
systems are free.
4.2
Reciprocating engines:
(i)
The cylinder head/s must be those that were standard for that particular model. The cylinder head/s may be
modified only by the removal of metal.
(ii)
The cylinder block may be replaced by another of the same family of block, which is deemed to be one that:

is from the same manufacturer

has the same cylinder bore spacing and general configuration.

retains the same cylinder head bolt positions.
(iii)
The cylinder block may be modified only by the removal of metal, whilst retaining the original configuration

Doesnt mention cams, piston choice, compression valves etc.

But I gather from this that an NA shell with a VVT engine is totally legit?

So you can run a mosler, GT3, s/c lotus, vett, gtr35......... All production cars..... :mrgreen:
