My headlights won't retract when I turn them off. Using the headlight manual over ride button below the hazard lights switch does nothing either.
From what I've read so far, this is a pretty common problem and all fingers point to a dodgy headlight retractor relay.
I have located the relay on my NA (in engine bay for my model) and it is a Imasen LA12. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to pick one of these up from in western Sydney (I'm in Penrith area)?
Headlights won't go down - need LA12 relay?

G'day/
The problem, as you have described, can also be caused by the connection behind the manual override button being loose, or not being connected at all. It is much simpler/quicker fix than finding a replacement relay.
You have to remove the tombstone to get to the back of the switch. In fact, it is usually removing the tomb stone and forgetting to reconnect the plug on the back when refitting the tombstone that causes this problem. Don't ask how many times I have done this

That's what happened when the LA12 went in our Astina.

Ironically, I was going to ask if anyone knows an Astina owner who may have a spare relay as they were cursed with same problem.
I've also fallen victim to not having the wiring connected to the tombstone switch but know this is not the case here as my hazard lights work fine.
Jaycar doesn't seem to have anything similar on their online site but a quick search on Ebay shows some available....all the way from America. Am still crossing my fingers that I might be able to find one locally.

Re: Headlights won't go down - need LA12 relay?
I got a whole set of relays once by browsing for part-outs on the Astina forum.

Most of the BG Astina ones interchange. The LA12 was hard to find: it was in the passenger footwell, high up to the left of the glovebox.

I've just spent most of the morning scabbing around in local wreckers and every Astina had no LA12 in passenger footwell (behind plastic trim). They all looked like this and are not compatible with my plug. Bit of a bugger as they only wanted $10 for a relay

Yeah, really sorry man for leading you on a wild goose chase. I've got fuel inj and cooling relays from an Astina in my NA but apparently not the retractor. I thought I'd fixed that with an Astina one as well. RELAY-RETRA is only the retractor relay in my Astina.

it's ok, picked a few other bits up for my step daughters cars while I was there so the visit wasn't fruitless.
