scangauge questions

Postby narita » Mon Mar 25, 2013 3:35 pm

Since i have got my miata running close to perfect i would like to monitor temps.

i have came across scangauge online and am wondering does this simply hook into your obd port and how acurate are the readings?

anybody who is using one could you let me know what your experience has been like.

thanks in advance.

What model MX5 do you have?

I think it was only the late NB8B models that had ODB2.

If you've got an NA, or an NB8A, the unit won't work at all (no plug for it)

Not sure.

I just seem to recall it was late NB8B (For some reason I've got 2003 in my head?)

Have a search on the forums, there was a thread about which models did/didn't get it about 12 months ago.

edit:
Even easier:

Caffeine adds: along with the additional chassis strengthening, a front suspension strut tower brace is added, it is equipped with a better stereo system and more useable cup holders
Also '02 year cars and later, are OBDII (on board diagnostic) compatibleSome have argued that this was the best of the breed in terms of the mass produced MX5s, Best Motoring claims that the NB8B represents the MX5 that Mazda Japan was always aiming for and finally had produced in terms of driving experience and dynamics

Plx multi gauge I think is the name. If not search a few pages back in Lokiel garge thread. His car is called Gina.

Other then that innovate make dual gauges but not big combo ones. Defi and a few others have multi display setups but I hope you have a thick wallet for them.

The innovate stuff can be linked together like the PLX. Innovate have a new product out to log data http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/pl1.php

PLX multi guage http://www.plxdevices.com/product_cat.php?id=MULT, as silaholic suggested Lokiel has PLX modules http://www.plxdevices.com/product_cat.php?id=SEMO installed in his glove box from memory.

Do you want to log or monitor?

Monitoring could be fun but priority are oil pressure oil temp and water temp

Innovate can do that with 2 gauges as well as they can be programmed to warn as well.
