Gladiator's New Project (93 NA6 C Package)

Postby Gladiator » Tue Mar 12, 2013 8:31 pm

This afternoon I bought myself a new project. A '93 NA 'C' Package. Red with tan interior, tan leather seats, Chrome sill plates, Tan soft top, Red hard top, and......A SEIZED MOTOR!!!! I'm not exactly sure what other (if any) extras the C package had. Perhaps someone can fill in the blanks for me? For $1500 I couldn't pass it up - who needs a wife anyway (she doesn't know yet)

The plan is to strip it bare and do it all up. As for the motor, I will swap the motor & gearbox from my current NA into this one. I have my old short nose motor in the shed, which had no problems except for an almost flogged out keyway. The seized long nose motor in the project car, I believe the crank to be fine. I' wondering if anyone can tell me if I can pair the crank & sump from the seized motor, with the block/head of my old short nose? Obviously, seals etc. would be replaced.

I'll update as I go along. I don't pick it up until next weekend since Lakeside is this weekend.

Nice! I think the C-pkg also had BBS wheels.

Yep you can just put all the good parts of each motor together to form one functioning engine.

Thanks Emily, I thought that was the case, but always good to check.

Yep, they definitely came with the 14" BBS's from factory.

Very nice buy, absolute bargain! (even more so with the hardtop!)

This has 15" rubber, so the 14's must have been replaced at some time.

if you decide you need a hand (engine swap etc etc), i am in Springfield. See your car around a bit would be good to actually meet.

Thanks. We should catch up for a coffee or a beer. I'm wine tasting in Stanthorpe this weekend though.

Well, this isn't happening now since I discovered there's money owing on it. :x

That is well rubbish. I don't see why the law doesn't say any remaining debit says with the previous owner unless declared and agreed to in writing prior to sale.

Is the car encumbered? Did you do a search before purchasing?

Correct me if I am wrong, to sell a car 'encumbered' is against the law. Where was it advertised Andrew? Tasmanian rego but looks like the pics have been taken at your home with the NA in the background

By your earlier post I assume you weren't to pick it up till this weekend so hope all is good and now assume a REVS was done

The car is Tassie registered, but was to be deregistered before sale. I was buying it from a friends nephew, as he cooked it and can't afford to get it fixed. I hadn't outlayed any $$$$ as it was a hand shake deal, but as soon as I discovered it was encumbered I retracted the hand shake. No harm done to my wallet. :)

P.S. My friend was unaware of his nephews situation. Needless to say he was quite embarrassed and has had some harsh words with his nephew.
