MadMikey's NB 2.0 (2004 SE)
I might go down the usual route and post my (albiet short) history and post some pictures of the original.
Well about a year and half ago I was on the hunt for my first ride and was after the the usual suspects such as WRX/Skyline/Silvia's but while browsing Gumtree one night I happened to come across something I thought I'd never like; an MX5 NB8B.
I still remember just falling in love with the pictures and extensively reading up about the cars and even changed preference on what model I'd like but in the end I found a decent 2002 '8B in black that I eventually knew I'd buy.
And after a few emails and test drives I did!
Sadly I never got around to taking and progress pictures or documented any of the mods I did with the car but here are a few snaps over the months:
I loved driving this car. Every time I hopped in the car it treated me well, whenever I told it to do something it just listened and performed like a champ.
But sometimes not everything goes to plan and you end up with this..
While driving in the hills one evening a kangaroo jumped out onto the road and when I hit the brakes hard I lost traction and slid off the cliff. Thankfully all I sustained from the crash was a sore back and a broken car so I happy it didn't end up worse.

Re: MadMikey's NB 2.0 (2004 SE)
I wasn't ready to be out of an MX5, honestly when I was looking for another car I just couldn't imagine myself driving anything else just yet so I was on the familiar hunt for another 5. I have always liked the SE models and because of recent events it allowed me to feasibly checkout some and wait for the right one to come along.
It only took about 2 weeks for me to look at one and buy it. It only had two previous owners who I can tell looked after the car well. The SE is a sunlight silver with only 37,xxxkms on the clock when I purchased it, with only 3,000 done it the entire last year. The owner listed it for a reasonable price and the deal was even sweeter once the original hardtop was thrown in.
The car was entirely stock except for the factory options I guess (LSD, leather interior, etc) but once funds come in that'll probably change
My plan is to do what I didn't with the previous car and have a decent garage thread to post and look back on so hopefully this one turns out better than the other!

So the road is up just behind where the people are standing?? That's quite a fall.
Nice SE though. Will be fun to see what you do with it.

Nice car!
I was expecting to see a stroker crank or insane oversize with the "2.0" thread title!

Congrats on the purchase, you have a similar story to mine, except my was killed by a red light runner, also with no injuries, except to the car. Always a good result!
Look forward to seeing what you do with this car also, pleased to see you already have one of my "must have" mods installed - the small side skirts

Your black NB was looking so sexy, glad you survived that accident without any serious injury.
Was that the SE for sale in Leeming? Looks great, keen to see how nice you make this one look.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thanks for the messages guys
I actually wasn't to sure if I liked them at first but they're growing on me; I guess I'm just used to seeing my nb's skirtless!

Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to grab too much because the wreck is now owned by the insurance company but managed to get my nardi which I was happy about.
Just bummed out that the meister's and re002s weren't even a week old yet.

Yup, but 3 were severely bent so there wasn't much point in salvaging them if I could.

I'm guessing that the new tyres probably didn't have many kms on them and might have contributed to your accident.

Yeah I agree with that, just a bad combination of things really. Going downhill around a slight bend at a 'spirited' speed with new tyres and unfortunately when I hit the brakes I lost traction and slid off the edge.
