You will find that if you lean the car out at the top end by adjusting the air flow meter you will get significant gains, adding the extra fuel on top of the already hideously rich mixture from factory is only going to make it much slower.
Magna blue knows quite a bit about the process.
A lot cheaper than a proper ecu and with your mild setup will work great.

Hi there weevil.
It is more responsive on the freeway now Abit more responsive the whole rev range is genarlly better ATM. I've adjusted the intake cam to max advance to be better off mark.

Basically if you have a good straight through exhaust and intake, and the tune is right id expect another 10-15hp from what you have done if it had all been done right, at the very least start by verifying its tuned right, with a 50 dollar dyno run with the o2 sniffer in it and see just how rich it is, but Id bet its in the 10:1 ratio where it needs to be closer to 12-12.5:1.
That will be worth a fair bit of grunt
I assume you have increased base timing also?

Face it, the BP engine for the mx-5 is a highly developed little twin cam. If you want to flock about with the settings then you are playing with fire.
About the only thing that makes any sense financially is the turbo, intercooler, exhaust, ecu route. Which in itself is a pain in the arse.
Other than that, enjoy it for what it is and wring the tits off it.

True that, Holden on 1996 was still using a dinosour 1950's engine design (IE VK non crossflow head ect....)

impossible to shave head to 10:1, the most you can shave off a BP-05 head will only give you 0.15 extra compression. if you paid for that, was a waste of money.
wtf is ported and CC'd chambers?
also you removed lift from the exhaust camshaft.
the headwork is something that you do later in your engine modding life, as it only net gains for 0-1%. which is why it is something left to last, exspence vs gain is minimal. and by having the camshaft regound like they way they were, you've gained in some aspects and lost in some aspects, reducing the net hp gain.
most toda/procam/maruha camshafts only gain 5-7kW/7-11hp on a stock engine that will be stock ECU friendly. any camshaft in the 250s will play fine with a stock ecu. and all those cams i listed have an extra 1mm of lift over yours which increases torque and finally peak hp.
but if you are planning to upgrade the ecu, then those camshafts a just expensive poorly reground paperweights. as you can upgrade to almost any duration and power increase with a programmable ecu.
It's sucks to read what you have written because it's very true what you have said. I need to speak to Camtech and find out why they did the profile that way, and speak to the head machinist and find out where it went wrong

Could've saved $800 but buying new Maruha F-cams and cam gears and installing them yourself. Would've got the same gains or better. You live and you learn.

Do you have before and after dyno charts for the car? If so post them here, if not how do you know how the engine has responded to the changes?
There are a number of things that could be wrong.
-even though the head was ported, did you make an improvement to flow?
-Match porting the manifolds can be detrimental, as it can upset air speed and entry angle to the port
-Those cams aren't overly big, I wouldn't expect much of an improvement with them by themselves
-What inlet manifold are you running?

-How do you mean "did I make any improvements to flow" do you mean did I do more to the manifold ect to make it flow better or did I bench flow it, I didn't get the engine guy to bench flow it Silly me trusted him.
-manifold match porting was just an open up to match the head, the head guy used the new metal gaskets to measure where to grind
-I know the cams where ground a little small, i'll keep you all posted about that lil outcome
-standard inlet manifold

I'll see if and why the cams where ground so mild 1st I did ask for full rev range to him with more power, then i'll do the dyno tune with a nice computer to suit
