Mt Dandenong

I think the road itself is called Mtn Highway, but it's the end that passes through "The Basin" and goes up the mountain. I had a blast on that road, and a few of the other roads that lead off it!
Very twisty, no real straights except for a few light curves. 2 lanes, and no real room for anyone to park on the side of the road :)

Downsides: Very very slippery when wet, rotten leaf slime sorta coats the road, and it stays wet for ages cause its mostly under tree cover. Bike riders love it. Skylines always end up on their roof, blocking the road.

Hi,
One of the great roads near Melbourne is the back road to Marysville. Simply head out of Warburton towards the Upper Yarra Dam and follow the signs. Quite narrow but fully sealed. Plenty of curves and great scenery. But beware of the many Bikers who love this route too : i have encountered a few who loved MY side of the road as well as theirs! End up at the recovering town of Marysville. Not the same charm as before it was razed to the ground but lovely all the same. Return via the Black Spur and Healsville -

That is the Reefton Spur. Long been one of Melbourne bikers favourite scratching roads. The problem is it's now heavily policed and the road is in a very sorry state of disrepair and will only get worse as the weather gets wetter.
If you want to have a good run (no cops and no idiots crossing white lines) then head further away from the city.

Also Mt Dandenong is a crap place to drive. 60kph speed limits everywhere, lots of rubber neckers and lots of cops. Follow advice above.

Sherbrooke road has always been my favourite, despite my mate dropping his n14 pulsar off the edge.
