shifter stuck, can anyone advise please
hey guys, I changed my shifter to the short shifter kit, lets just forget the brand of the shifter kit, because I know it has nothing to deal with it. So here is the problem, my shifter/gear is not smooth and sometimes it get stuck in gear 2nd, what I mean is from gear 1st change to gear 2nd or turnning into a conern from gear 3rd/gear 4th change to gear 2nd, it just like something blocking, I am sure that I press my clutch to the botton, so thats not because of my driving behaviour, so what could causing this problem, please help me guys.

Put the original shifter back in. If no problem, then it is the short shifter binding or catching on something. If the problem remains, you have a change mechanism or hydraulics problem.

Pretty sure is not the new shifter, it happened when I use the original too, and I thought the new shifter might solve the problem but it doesn't, and thank you, I will check the mechanism or hydraulics.

Is it happening when driving or stationary and NOT revving?
If the former then your engine mounts might be shot.

Is the nylon bush at the bottom of either shifter in good condition?
is there any oil in the turret?
does it stick when the car is off?
Either way, I'd be removing the shitshifter kit and putting back the stock one.
Then I'd be working out the issue and fixing it, once that's repaired, put the shitshifter back if you really want.
No point leaving the new shifter in in case it's causing another issue, chase one problem at a time.

HKS is right I think. Put the car back to stock and if its still baulking on selection then the problem is not related to the new shifter set up. There are things to do wrong in gearboxes - how old is the box etc.

as i mention before, it happened before i changed the short shifter, so must be something wrong with the gear box, neither inside or not enough oil, the gear box is 12 years old now.

Re: shifter stuck, can anyone advise please
Age itself is not a problem. My 6 speed is also 12 years old but has a fantastic shift quality and is happy to shift in to 2nd at some high speeds on track (with heel and toe rev matching!!)
Does it do it when the car has been dríven for a while and the gearbox is up to temperature?
If it still does it with the stock shifter I would suggest the next job is to change the gearbox oil. I highly recommend this Nulon oil. You will need 2 litres. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... 4771#Cross

Lol mine too, I'm on my second engine and still running my original 23 year old gear box without any trouble. These things don't die from old age, that's for sure.
