NA6 Hoodbra seeking examples

I guess you mean a car bra. A hood is an expression used in USA for bonnets.

I have never understood car bra's.

If you really want the car to be good looking why put on something WAY uglier than a few tiny stone chips?

I agree. Its practical if you have to do an occasional trip where you are at high risk of stone chips from passing trucks and worn roads.
Day to day is a different story altogether. I have always associated that look with Honda's and 'scene' cars.

I agree with Dann.

They are uglier than the alternative and can actually cause more scratches if dirt etc. gets between the bra and the car.

I guess the OP may be scared of the front nosecone fading faster than the rest of the bodywork maybe?

I would prefer a faded nosecone over time than a carbra daily. Anyday lol.
But usefull for long trips sure.

To be useful to OP, I have seen LOTS advertised on eBay USA. They say Miata in fancy script.
Must have been a popular dealer option.

Why would crossing boarders put you in a situation more likely to get a chip?

If you've ever travelled interstate, you'll realise that there are shitloads of trucks driving flinging rocks left right and centre. I left sydney to go to melbourne with no stone chips on the front bumper and came back with quite a few.

Also the amount of bug splatter is a bitch to clean off.

I flew down drove back my first NA from melbourne to newcastle, and I do over 1000km's a week and I live an hour from my job.

I understand that this type of driving involves more highways than driving in town does.

Perhaps you dont do much driving out of the city but there are rocks everywhere.

Well I live an hour from work and and hour and a half university, so I know what its like to drive on a road with some rocks. Obviously there are rocks everywhere and you can get stone chips anywhere, but for longer trips I'd actually advise someone to use one.

The difference is, I'm not driving 1000 kms in a day at 110 km/h for most of the time. You fluctuate between speeds, and highways around sydney generally have more than 2 lanes and I only end up driving 100 kms in a day (I'm not really driving on dirt covered roads like the ones interstate). 1000 kms a week doesn't mean you'll encounter the same roads as 1000 kms in a day, interstate.

When you're backed up by a truck interstate, you've only got a single lane next to you. You're bound to get hit by a few more rocks interstate than in the city where you have the option of changing to 2 or more lanes.

surely there must be clear, thick, adhesive backed or static-cling film. Many years ago "light skinz" (headlight protectors) made small strips to protect the leading edge of your bonnet, I can only assume the same/similar companies have made big ones to cover your whole bumper.

A lot of dealers in the states offer this (no idea about Aus) as it offers great resistance against stone chips, easily removable, and once it's on, it's invisible.

Looking for something similar to this, not as much buying one just yet I just want to know if it looks absolutely ridiculous on an NA or not
