Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Also, pat owns a supercharged na8 with 130rwkw.
He always talks about how he loves that with the blower you can just open the throttle and instantly overtake on the highway etc. I aksed him to compare, he says its so hard to say which car has the fastest boost response because both are as fast as your ankle can move and the turbo car delivers just SO much torque.
We discussed it a bit and basically its so responsive that you would never know the difference except that the blower car is balls slow in comparison (and turbo set to just 10psi).

Have you been able to identify what aspect makes the blower car balls slow.. assuming the SC is also able to match the 10psi boost and all things being equal, I wonder what makes it slow (again assuming the extra heat in the SC is adjusted for and intake is sufficiently cooled etc).
Is the boost dropping off in SC? I would expect a MAP/Boost graph to show the turbo coming on and staying high all the way, whereas the SC starts strong and then drops off... is that why? I wonder if the SC engine is tuned to maximise the SC early and strong boost?

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Well there is a bunch of reasons.
Blower is far less efficient, heating the boost charge more due to internal friction, so a psi or 2 is just heat.
That heat means less aggressive timing.
Then it takes 20 or 30 hp back from the engine to drive itself.
This turbo setup can make 10psi full time, at any rpm you want as fast as you want it, and being a turbo its so efficient.
It makes 10psi to the throttle body, at room temperature every single rpm from cruise to the limiter. Not slowly tapering the flow up with rpm, and not dying off at the top.

Its temporary to test with, the splitter is a 1st gen also. Its up to the owner to change the wing mounts if he wants, but its actually very very strong.
Even the turbo setup is for toying with, as I said before Its getting a 450HP borg warner on it later, and will be tuned for around 400whp.

Sounds quiet and free flowing from what I see/hear in that video. Also, I can hear the turbo starting to spool up!NitroDann wrote:

310, by a fully built 1.8L with a tubular manifold and 3" exhaust, worked head and a customer plenum and throttle body
Used to make 200whp at 4000, now it makes 300 at 5000 all the way to 8000.
