Hi,
I went down to buy some gasket silicone sealant, and boy I was overwhelmed with the different types - what type does one use when rebuilding the engine, or do you get a different type for every part and area?
I ended up getting some Loctite Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Red / Sensor-Safe - this seemed suitable for almost all areas and probably for places I wont be using. I've used a bit and it goes hard and rubbery like normal silicone and I can only assume it will withstand high temps of the engine bay as its rated to just above 300*
But honestly I wasn't really sure and nor was the sales staff who was recommending anything as being suitable... really???

I also use Threebond (the 1211 and it's white).

White is no good, everyone knows red makes it go faster
