Had a session at Norwell Park on 02/02/13 and worked on getting the suspension set up, getting some more seat time also had a new wheel alignment to try out as well. There was a total of 4 MX5's (2 NB's and an orange SP track only cars) plus mine, however I was the only road registered one there.

Managed a 1:14:35 after an instructor sat in for a few laps, the video is with the instructor.

Interesting on the intake and engine bay temps on my best lap intake was 29 and engine bay was 81.5, however at times the eninge bay got up to 98.3 and the intake was up to 47.2. The higher intake was just after starting and highest engine bay after running a 15 min session. I'm still concerned about the oil temps as it is getting up to 110 however the water temp did not go over 98.

Suspension wise I wound everything soft and sufferred from understeer so after session 1 (fastest 1:17:19) settings were changed to a bt more siffness (more in the rear than the front). Session 2 fastest time 1:15:19. For session 3 front damper/rebound was 14/10, rear was 18/14 and understeer was slowly going away (quickest lap of 1:14:35). Session 4 front damper/rebound was 14/10, rear was 26/20 best time 1:14:54. However the brakes still have more to give, I need to trust them more.

Overall it was a good day and learning more about how the suspension interacts with the car and the way you drive it especially weight transfer when braking/accelerating.

Thanks Charlie and also thanks for the target time :) I do enjoy Norwell however there is no room for error as a Porsche found out on its cooldown lap just before the entrance to the skid pan :( Up till that time there had been no events or hold ups.

It will be nice to have more punch when comming out of corners and along the back straight. They also had a radical doing a few laps and I have some video of it going past me, it is quick!

No ITB's yet, they should be delivered this week. The engine will not be ready by the next MX5 Car Club track day on 18/03/13 so the plan is to have it run in and ready to go by 20/05/13 (the next track day). If it was ready by 18/03/13 it would be RPM limited anyway and that would not have been fun.

Jealous, my tuner really likes the jenvy stuff though apparently deckers has had a few issues with a car running them.

Also jealous of the fresh bottom end your putting in.

Pretty keen to have a good look at your innovate gear at the dodgy day too.

No problems on showing you the Innovate stuff. I have expanded the system and will be adding 4 exhaust temps into the logging chain as well as 2 ride height sensors in the near future. The ride height senors will be replaced by the TPS and injector cycle logging. Charlie convinced me to buy his splitter and once it has been modded to suit my front I'll be playing with the setting (hence ride height sensors) to get the aero right on the car. If you need the sensors once I finish with them I'm happy to loan them out.

I can also show you how you can connect in with a laptop and change the settings etc. I'm also playing with a VBOX Lite and it can take 4 inputs (via CAN) from the Haltech when it goes in and put this data direct onto the video no need to post process. The beauty is I can swap the 5 volts from the Innovate and then route it into the VBOX :)

The innovate data is mainly for the tuner so I can send them a file so they can keep an eye on the car, hence getting as much data as possible and hopefully pick up any problems early and save the motor :)

Looks like its worth the wait! Surprised to see the fuel rail looks different, i thought it was split into the 2 pieces? Different on the 1.8 version it seems compared to the 1.6

*two of your linked photos aren't showing too btw.

Did a test fit of the new bonnet (fibreglass), will be going to paint very soon. Also now have decided that the roof scoop was not the greatest idea, whilst it does not leak (anymore) the wind noise (without a helmet on) is annoying, unless you don't want to talk to your passenger. However on the track it is fantastic and gives heaps of air so I'm making a foam template to block off the noise when on the road and can easily be removed for the track.

After the bonnet only the spliter and possibly side skirts to go and externaly car is complete.

I finally got around to taking a photo of the APR wing's profile, gives you some idea of the wings shape!

Small update, bonnet pins are in and car fitted for trailer.

Used existing spots where the hood rubbers go.

A bit of white chalk on the top of the pins gave the drill points:

Stopped taking photos, however will get some of the finished pins soon.

Car on trailer (tilt type) for test fit, door can be opened, final position of car will not be as forward as it is on the trailer, no scrape on loading a small one when unloading, however this will be rectified. Trailer off for galvanising very soon.
