People getting soooo soft nowadays :D I'm old enough to remember a time when rear demisters were only an option, aircon was waaay too expensive so couldn't use that to demist windows and rear window wipers were completely unheard of!! ... we used side mirrors ......

.... works for me in my NA ....

Sorry, forgot the obvious solution. Put the roof down.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Suppose there is a certain attraction to wet seats and mouldy carpets.....
First sign of rain stopping , my top's down, but there's a certain "loser" look to sitting at red lights in pouring rain getting drenched I reckon.
If it has a top, put it up and stay dry I say , even if vision is a bit compromised (that means badly effected Dann :? )
....and vision would be a bit better with a clear rear window

Are you finding the issue worse than other sedans/coupes that don't have a rear window wiper?

It's been a while since I drove mine in the rain but I can't recall feeling that my rear vision was any worse affected than I'd expect for a convertible. My window isn't as clear as a glass window and certainly distorts vision when reversing with the roof up, but I just accept that as part of the deal.

It's no worse than any other car I've found. Convertible, sedan, or any other vehicle.

The only ones that have been different are Utes and hatchbacks, utes because the vertical window doesn't catch any rain, and hatchbacks tend to have rear wipers.

The only time I've been unable to see out the back at all has been in extremely heavy rain, and in those cases it's also hard to see in front as well.

Dann - not sure you get the rain like we do here!! 203mm to this morning since Friday night and another 200mm expected today/tomorrow! If I l;ived in a desert i'm sure the roof would be down all day!

Funny, given Corollas and the last few Celicas' all had rear window wipers, the 86 does not! Nor does it have a cigarette lighter or ashtray!! [not that i'd smoke in it anyways!]

Ok, no wheel mounted audio controls sounds like a legit cost cutter. No rear wiper sounds legit cost/ weight saver.
Same for the ash tray. But REALLY, no 12 volt socket? How are you meant to plug your lap timer in?

Or is it to make people option the sat nav?

I read it as not having the lighter (the red glowy hot bit) rather than not having the socket.

Because nowadays people think that if you see something cigarette related it will make you instantly start smoking
