I am going to Rotrex my NB8B. This needs me to have a decent clutch in the thing, I have got a pressure plate and friction plate on the way but I am wondering about sticking a lightweight flywheel in it.
I am sure that the characteristics of a lightweight flywheel will suit my driving and the car...it is a road car but is not daily dríven and is my track toy.
I am reading conflicting reports that with a LW FW and the increased drag of a supercharger it will stumble at low speed and and is prone to stalling.
Does anybody here have any experience with this?

I have a lightened B6 flywheel on my Eaton M45 supercharged BP powered NA and a custom lightweight flywheel on my HKS supercharged NC.
Never had a stalling issue or had to increase engine revs and slip the clutch (when compared to a standard flywheel) to accelerate from a standstill on either car.

Had no issues what so ever, I'm running a MX5Plus Cromo lightweight flywheel & a M45 on my B6 & I love it
Makes it a little more difficult when trying to teach a learner in the car but otherwise its pretty damn normal to me.... not difficult to launch or anything.

I recently drove 16bits rotrex'd nb8a and it had the 949 twin disk setup. The lightest clutch and flywheel combo on the planet for an mx5. It goes from idle to red line faster than your foot can get to the floor, like a worked sports bike.
Drove amazing no problems whatsoever. It's all in the tune.

yeah i have lived with it for years and its fine.
i went from stock clutch which started slipping, then to exedy sports tuff clutch which was fine and then to the twin plate and again its fine. doesn't shudder and works fine in traffic once you get used to it.

what dann said, i have read the ceramic ones shudder. unless you have 600hp the ceramic has no point. especially when there is like 300grams between them.

Yah I didnt realise how bad the ceramic shudder, Iv'e dríven both 4puck and 6 puck solid clutches and I can live with that, imagine a 4puck x 10 thats what the twin ceramic is like, extremely harsh pick-up. The motor will be coming out in a few months I'll look into replacement organic discs, I wonder if any other brand of 7.25" discs will fit these clutches, im sure they are interchangeable with other clutches that they manufacture?

yeah maybe, as long as the hats have the same offset and what not i imagine something of the same dimensions would be a direct replacement. though they are not expensive from 949 at 105 each plate plus delivery.
