Rotrex in NSW?

Postby Kobsy » Fri Feb 08, 2013 12:53 pm

OK so, I've got my 99 NB and loving it, but it's the same old story of wanting more power straight line. Yes I could buy a SE/SP but it's not what I want. And yes I have been researching into both turbo and superchargers but one that I'm leaning towards now is the rotrex supercharger.

So long story short, I've never experienced a rotrex but I would love to before I go spending all my time devoting myself to one. If anyone in NSW(prefer south of Syd area) has a rotrex system installed and wants to meet up for a chat, a drive or whatever please let me know! :D

Also if anyone has some suggestions about the whole thing don't hesitate to post them. But please don't let this turn into another turbo vs supercharger thread. It's not hard to find several of them already...

16 bit has a 200whp rotrex NB. It's a sweet car I like it.

He's had it a little while and experienced a few mx5s, and because he wants some torque guess what he's putting on it to replace the rotrex?

Yeah I keep reading about the low torque, the main reason why I'd like to experience one before I go dropping one in expecting more.

I'll PM 16bit about it, thanks Dann :D

Hey Kobsy,

I'd be keen to have a look also. If you're meeting someone at a coffee shop and don't mind the company I'd like to come along.

Ill tell you my opinion,

Im sure you want to know it :P

16Bits rotrex car is a lot of fun to drive, it really is. on the track a noobie could thrash it all ay long and never fumble, but its only because its slow. I mean its a fair bit quicker than a stock car, but in perspective, its not very fast.
Take that as you will, and this: its my favourite NB on the planet that I have seen.

Yeah John I'll let you know via PM if anything happens.

Dann, I've been under that impression since I started looking into them. If I'm going to use one, I'm not just going to bolt it on and go. I'm going to be building the motor so it can run good. Just the problem I'm finding now is that by time I drop the money to build the motor up to a decent level, I may aswell have found a turbo to pair up with the motor instead. I have plenty of ideas and thoughts of what to do and how to do it but I'm still working out whats a bad idea or a good idea.

I do know I want to build something up and I want to do it right the first time. I don't want to be re-building a motor more than once to get it running right. I guess I'm just still at the research and decide stage still. I'm not scared to drop money into the car, I'm just scared of the end product not being what I want from it. So I need to find out what I want. But either way I'm learning a lot from all reading all about these so I'm happy.
